Statement of Purpose
The purpose of this document is to notify and communicate a new policy regarding bag checks at the entrance for employees. The Employee Entrance Bag Check Policy was developed with the concurrence of all stakeholders to ensure safety and security internally and externally. This document acts as prior notification to the employees to ensure they are aware of the new policy and promotion of their general rights of privacy. This policy conforms with the NSW Industrial Relations Commission, with the primary goal being taking extra security measures and enhancing integrity by minimizing employee related dishonest practices. The bag checking activity is guided by various procedures and rules that ensure the respect of everyone’s rights and freedoms they are entitled to.
Certified and approved security personnel will conduct the implementation of the policy. They will be identified with their verification badges. The approved bag checking methods will include using the detection devices such as the doorframe detectors, the lady-frisking cabin, and hand metal detector. The actual checking will begin with verbal consent, and later on, employees’ bags are checked before being allowed to enter the premises. In some instances, the security personnel will be permitted to inspecting the bags manually, requiring employees to open their bags. However, running their hands in the bags is not allowed. In case an employee refuses to undergo the entrance bag check, the policy will be communicated to them to draw their attention, in case they forgot or lacked the knowledge. If the employee insists on not having their bags checked, then the matter will be forwarded to the Manager, who will address the issue. The use of force or grabbing the bag is not allowed. Finally, if any property is discovered, then action will be taken upon the employee.
