Persuasive Speech Assignment

The prosperity and development of our community is shaped by our choices and exercise of civil rights. We all benefit from the developmental projects implemented in our community. Still, the quality of the benefits is influenced by our decisions to vote in the most effective legislations and leaders. The State Representative, my fellow friends, ladies, and gentlemen [JC1] today, I will talk about why voting towards the allocation of funds towards projects will benefit our community economically, socially, culturally, and politically. In 2016, a report on community development conducted at the St. Louis FED showed the benefits communities acquire through effective community development projects and initiatives such as increased employment, small enterprise development, and revitalization of businesses and communities (FED, 2016). The report also outlines the central inhibitor to this development as insufficient funds to facilitate the effective implementation of the developmental projects in the community (FED, 2016). To show the importance of voting in the new legislation of city funds allocation towards community development-oriented projects, first, I will touch on the problem of insufficient funds in community development and benefits. I will then discuss an efficient and imperative solution, which involves voting in the legislation. Finally, I will wrap up with a picture of a better and developed community.

The contemporary world is characterized by a massive economic evolution and advancing social needs that require advanced strategies to address. The community is entrenched with disproportional challenges and disparities in terms of economic and social development. Statistics from the USA Census Bureau indicate high levels of low-income individuals in these suburbs with ill-equipped infrastructure, the presence of shabby residences, and excessive income inequalities (Keyes, 2015). The reason for these dilapidated residences and ill-equipped infrastructure is due to the lack of adequate funds to build durable roads, upmarket and smart homes, and projects that seek to create job opportunities. It is the mandate and role of city governments to help communities such as ours to revitalize the low income and initiate development such as affordable housing, better schools, and hospitals, among other developmental initiatives (Keyes, 2015). Your civic right is the determinant and driver of change, which is the change from just a community to a better and developed community. Maintaining the status quo will deprive the community and future generation, better opportunities and advancements in lives, as seen among established communities. Acceptance and revolution will result in better facilities, increased income, and jobs that will revive and enhance our preferred American dream.

Everyone here must be responsible and accountable for the community’s development and benefits. This accountability and responsivity are achieved through the exercise of our civil rights to vote in the legislation that mandates the city governments to allocate adequate funds to developmental projects in our community. When law and institutions are developed, habits will form over time and passed to the next generations (Keyes, 2015). We must ensure our future generations finds a better and improved community with all possible opportunities ready to be captured. According to studies, city funds highly fill community development financing gaps, which reinforce the community’s locally generated resources and expand the CDC work scale. This will influence the development and not inhibit it, as we would love to benefit. City funds will smoothen and speed project processing, which would reduce operational costs and improve coordination. For instance, this coordination will revitalize the neighborhoods and provide affordable housing projects with substantial funds and little time. These are practical findings from studies of city governments such as Boston and Cleveland (Keyes, 2015).

Voting in the acceptance of the city funds allocation in community projects is a free ticket to self-initiated developed and economic evolution for a better tomorrow in this community. A community with entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, the presence of affordable and upstate residences, the presence of diverse businesses, and, most importantly, excellent state of infrastructure, learning institutions, and health facilities is the dream of everyone. This will be a commerce center, and the epitome of development all acquired from the will and power of the people, US. Shaping our preferred American dream through the exercise of our civil rights will result in the community exercising the Horatio Alger Myth, achieving community, individual development, and growth. However, once rejected, the exact opposite is likely to occur. Weigh on whether the people’s power will develop a community with ill-equipped infrastructure, presence of shabby residences, and excessive income inequalities, alternatively, a ‘perfect’ and epitome of development.

The ability to transform individual lives and community development is in the people’s power to decide on the preferred American dream effectively. The city funds will help implement developmental community projects and result in better economic status, provide a source of support to community development in revitalizing the community, and provide a legal mechanism to convey efficient access to development among community members. There is a prepared community get together lunch tomorrow at the city hall, where we can share a meal, and everyone is invited. Your opinions, ideas, improvements, constructive critics, and insights will profoundly shape the ultimate implementation plan. In the meeting, there will be brochures present that outline the funding legislations, and the guiding goals and objectives towards the benefit of the people and community.
