Existence of God
The existence of God has been the topic that perturbs many in the 21st century, and in my opinion, I would say that God exists. One reason to support my argument on the existence of God is the human mystery of consciousness. How the consciousness of human works is indeed a mystery. There is no physical presence of consciousness in the world. This means that both images and thoughts in human consciousness lack dimensions that can be measured. Nevertheless, the actions of our physical human bodies are somewhat mysteriously guided by nonphysical thoughts. The explanation is barely scientific but rather the enigmatic power of non-physical consciousness that defines the functioning of a separate physical world.
In 1991, Daniel Dennett, who was a leading atheist, recognized that his scientific nihilism could not be reconciled with the reality of a non-physical universe of human consciousness and sometimes even doubted the existence of consciousness. Moreover, just as many people would altogether find this unrealistic, another renowned philosopher, Thomas Nagel, in his argument stated that, in light of the scientifically incomprehensible nature of human consciousness, there is a reason to leave behind the scientific materialism in order to thoroughly understand human existence world.
Since Nagel belongs to atheism world, he does not give an alternative of religious belief on human existence; however, I would make the argument that the paranormal nature of the intricacies of human thought increases our reliance on the probability of a supernatural god’s existence. However, the ability in which our cognition guides our human physical body is a mystery and there is no rational explanation for it. Even if this does not make sense or rather some would not still believe in it, I will always stand and have a reason to believe in God.
