ANSWER
Changes in Nursing Practice
When nursing profession started, it had minimal to do with the official health training and all aspects associated with gender and readiness to do the work. Past days, women retrieved medicinal techniques from their mother and other women in the similar career. All these have changed with the current nursing profession which had grown with a study from the national nursing workforce, indicating that the career has grown and now ranked as the country’s biggest healthcare profession. The increasing number of nurses means a high medical service to people and a significant reduction in the number of in-hospital deaths. Training for nurses was minimal at the start of the profession and at times, unnecessary. However, this has changed with the current environment where experience for nurses is very precise and profound.
Associate and Baccalaureate Education in Nursing
One similarity between the two is that graduates of these programs are needed to sit for a similar NCLEX-RN licensing assessment. The percentage of people doing these two courses has increased nationally. On the other hand, baccalaureate is more advanced than an associate degree because it highlights the entire course taught in associate degree and different diploma programs (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2014). In the state of New York, the governor approved legislation that requires approved nurses graduating from a correlated grade or diploma nursing courses to have a baccalaureate in nursing within ten years of primary licensure. A BSN-prepared nurse tends to make advanced decisions compared to AND nurse because BSN presents a much firm stand in the humanities and sciences that are connected to the type of decision made. Also, there is growing evidence outlining that BSN graduates initiates exclusive ability to their duties as nursing clinicians and play a significant responsibility in the delivery of secure patient care.
Evidence-Based Practice
Incorporating evidence-based process in nursing profession acquits nurses with technical study to make justifiable decisions. Through this process, nurses are always informed concerning emerging medical procedures for patient care. By scrutinizing documented intercessions that match the profiles of patients, nurses can enhance their patient’s probability of recovery. Evidence-based practice allows a nurse to examine detailed research, so they know the dangers or effectiveness of a diagnostic evaluation or treatments. In a study of RN-to-BSN, learners from 1995 to 1998 indicate that these learners had advanced proficiency in nursing practice, leadership, communication and assessment (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2012). These are qualities that are typically motivated by evidence-based practice. EBP is a critical component of a safe and quality patient care; thus, nurses should know the existing approaches to provide quality care with complicated conditions. Nursing learners in an RN to BSN program are taught the duty of research in the nursing practice (Horntvedt et al., 2018). These initiatives highlight approaches, design, process and ethical ideologies of research.
Communication in Nursing
Nurses have the prospective to lead the way in enhancing health and health care for all, but for this to be achieved, they must learn to communicate effectively and collaborate with other interdisciplinary groups. Patient care in the current society is complicated than ever because of the increasingly large population that has one or several chronic complications ranging from cancer to diabetes. These ailments are complex and need advance communication and collaboration, such as providing accurate and timely informed consent. Technology has also been part of this process where modern records are kept in electronic format, which makes it easy to access a particular document. When nurses coordinate care, they lower the degree of stress patients go through and positively affect the results.
