The Next Generation Air Transport System is an aviation-led modernization in the United State’s air transportation system aiming to make flying secure, effective, and predictable. This is ranked as the most determined infrastructure project in the country’s history, where the Federal Aviation Administration is incorporating significant new technologies and capabilities. The aviation industry will be shaped into a more resilient, modern, and safer national system to serve over 3 million and 45,000 flights a day efficiently. NextGen is more than one technology because it covers innovative and transformative technologies created and sued after intense safety testing.

However, this project has been linked with intense consequences with the latest report released by the division of transport’s office of inspector general, highlighting that the federal aviation administration’s incorporation of the project is affected by delays and high costs, and technical issues. These issues make it hard to justify further investments in the system entirely.  The technology problem linked with the installation of the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast system has been a significant concern with implementing this process (Strohmeier et al., 2014). Concerning the growing air interchange in both unmanned and manned aviation, two challenges have been evaluated. First, this structure is vulnerable to intense communication collision in thick air space where the random control access of the message procedure using approximately 1080MHz frequency might bring ADS-B packet mistake speeds exceeding 50 percent of the standard airspace densities. The second complication is associated with the ADS-B’s safety issues, including the hits with cheap off–the–shelf software-defined radios. Adversaries can infuse forged aircraft location or change the parts of accessible ones not including the receiver detecting these attacks’ availability.
