Literary Theories

Literary theory is a cluster of ideas and approaches people to use in the practical reading of literature. It is still a description of the existing principles or tools by which people attempt to understand literature. Every scholarly presentation draws on perception in theory but can justify diverse kinds of critical activity. Literary theory formulates the link between the work and the author; they still develop the significance of class, race, and gender for literary study.

Feminism is one literary theory closely aligned to a way of understanding literature. The feminist movement engages political and sociological theories regarding gender difference considerations. The movement is influenced by the perceptions postulated, popularized, and designed by thinkers plus authors ranging from Judith Felterbey to Lillian Smith. Feminism is still aligned with how I read literature because of its primary intention of eradicating women’s injustices. The second theory is reader-response criticism, which documents diverse mechanisms to interpret a given text based on the reader’s religious, economic, and cultural status or background. I usually feel like everyone has a different perception, which must be embraced; thus, readers can bring their ideas, attitudes, and experiences to a text and interpret a story through a personal view. Feminism and reader-response criticism are the two interesting literary theories because of their efforts to embrace personal opinion and female rights.

In summary, I am a positive critic who focuses on a right or positive side of a particular thing that many people ignore or overlook. Other people might see only the wrong side of an opinion or something so that it becomes significant to highlight the positive side. Positive criticism is still a significant aspect in a workplace that enables people to learn and grow. However, on many occasions, people do not value such appreciation.
