ANSWER
Speech: A Vote for the Allocation of City Funds towards a Project
About 1.6 billion people have no access to electricity (Kumar, 2020). In people’s daily routines, electricity has become a vital resource. It enables them to easily and promptly carry out various activities that generate social and economic benefits. Inability to access electricity translates to delays in the achievement of intended milestones and objectives. I believe that each one of you can bear witness that electricity is the foundation behind the economy. For example, businesses utilize power in their production processes to ensure that they deliver goods to the consumers at the right time. At the household level, electricity is essential in running appliances which makes life easier. The shortage of access to power among most households is a major issue of concern in today’s setting.
The lack of a sustainable and affordable power supply is a key challenge in our community. Most of us fail to access power due to the high cost of installation and monthly payments. Less disadvantaged families struggle with candles and torches to light their homes at night because of resource shortages. The little funds at their disposal are used to cater to daily necessities. Others experience challenges carrying out chores around their homes due to power-related issues. I believe that during power black-outs, homes experience food damages and non-functional appliances. Notably, children might fail to complete their academic tasks due to the lack of electricity. There is a need to shift to an alternative that benefits all community members. In today’s setting, electricity is a basic need across all homes. It enables family members to run various activities at ease irrespective of the time. For instance, children can read during the night while the other family members engage in tasks such as cooking and laundry. Therefore, let us make electricity more affordable and accessible to all.
Solar energy is a quality alternative that advantages not only the poor households but also the well-established families. The less fortunate groups can utilize power from solar energy at night to run their tasks. I believe that children can highly benefit from this as they will have the opportunity to learn. Individuals from wealthy backgrounds can shift to solar energy in case there is a power black-out. Solar energy is utilized for basic tasks such as heating water, taking a shower, and drying crops at the household level (Lakatos, Hevessy & Kavoc, 2011). These tasks are more reasons as to why we should adopt solar energy in our community. Besides enabling individuals to fulfill these tasks daily, it offers sustainable solutions to power shortage problems. As Oisamoje and Oisamoje (2013) state, solar energy provides economical energy production for global communities. This form of energy allows community members to achieve optimal daily benefits both at the corporate and household levels. I believe that solar energy is a viable idea that we need to implement in our community.
The adoption and implementation of the solar energy option in our community rely on the availability of financial resources. Every project’s success is based on resource availability and investment. We have a responsibility to inform the leaders about our expectations through a voting system that exposes them to people’s needs and interests. As the representative, I have come up with a vote that calls for your support. The central aim is to call local and national leadership levels to commit funds towards the solar energy project. We look forward to seeing leaders develop a solar project and distribute power to all households. We believe that this will help solve some of the problems that the poor and wealthy families have experienced in the region. For example, poor and marginalized persons will have access to power at an affordable cost. I believe that most of these families are limited by the high cost of purchasing and maintaining power. However, solar energy will allow them to have electricity at their disposal with lower maintenance costs. For the middle class and rich families, solar energy will provide a key alternative, especially during power shortages or black-out. They can switch to solar use when they experience any of these issues. I believe that everyone stands to benefit from this project. Therefore, I call onto you to support this agenda by voting yes towards the allocation of city funds towards the solar energy project. I am optimistic about the project’s success and sustainability. It will offer the opportunity for every community member to advance their daily lives.
Please sign up to the yes vote to prompt the city leadership to allocate funds towards this sustainable project. The solar energy project will change lives for the better and provide a viable chance for boosting the community’s growth and developmental processes. Electricity is a basic need in the contemporary setting, and we should strive hard to ensure that everyone can access cheap and affordable power. We have the power to change this community, and I believe that this power lies in your yes vote. I urge you to vote yes to create the foundation for improved access to power systems across all households.
