ANSWER

The civil war and its causes

The American civil war was fought between the US and the confederate states of America, a collection of 11 southern states that had left the union in 1860. The war was a result of disagreements between the two most over the institution of slavery. The conflict took place for four years, where the United States then defeated the confederate states (American Battlefield Trust 1). Therefore, at the end of the era, the rebellious states in rebellion with the United States got readmitted to the country. There was also a success in terms of their cause of fight since slavery was abolished nationwide.

The American civil war is one of the defining events in the country’s history. Since 1861 and 1865, more than 10,000 battles and engagements were fought across the continent. This was from Vermont to the New Mexico territory. Many issues surrounding the civil war scholarship are still getting debated by many scholars up to date (Fearon 2). Another key factor about the civil war is that Abraham Lincoln was the US president at this point, one of the most popular American presidents (American Battlefield Trust). The president had declared that he would do anything to unite the country.  He, therefore, refused to recognize the Southern states as independent nations, which was a major factor that contributed to the war.

My opinion on the topic is that the Civil war greatly contributed to the country’s current state. It contributed to differences and led to more unity among states in the country, hence raising the United States. I also think that there are many lessons that the US can learn from the civil war.
