Emotional intelligence is a critical concept in leadership. The capacity to understand and manage one’s emotions is deemed a key factor for effective leadership strategies. It is the success behind any course of action that a leader undertakes in today’s business setting. Due to the changing demands of the business environment, leaders are required to cultivate emotional intelligence (Issah, 2018). Their emotions tend to be affected by change processes, and unless a leader can manage them, they might risk achieving insignificant outcomes. One of the vital elements of this vital approach is self-awareness. It entails exposure to a person’s feelings, behavior, and thoughts. This helps a leader to understand other people’s perspectives. Leaders with a high degree of self-awareness demonstrate values like honesty, kindness, open-mindedness, self-discipline, and clear communication. For example, a self-aware leader understands how their behavior and actions can affect others. This allows one to utilize clear-cut communication processes that create a positive impact on the followers. Also, self-aware leaders guide others with empathy. These are essential values when leading and managing group members.

Strategic planning in the healthcare environment entails the process of setting long-term goals and objectives. Leaders assess an organization’s needs, capabilities, and weaknesses to gain insights on goal strategies (Rasouli et al., 2020). Depending on the conditions, vision, and mission, leaders establish guidelines that enable them to meet the set goals and objectives. Communication, culture, and innovation exist as crucial issues that can affect future healthcare planning. Failure to communicate leads to a lack of exposure to an organization’s tactics and processes. Also, the prevailing culture can either hamper or support care decisions in the future. Lastly, innovation determines the systems and structures available at an institution’s disposal to make decisions. Care organizations can rely on tools like the SWOT analysis, PEST model, and the balanced scorecard for future planning purposes.
