Germany

Little Snow-White indicates how beauty is a desirable quality for women in German culture. Little Snow-White is born very beautiful and pretty in the eyes of many. She is so pretty that when the huntsman is ordered by the queen to kill her, he is not able to complete his mission because of the girl’s attractiveness. The fairy tales also indicate an organization of class system in German culture. While the seven dwarfs are working in the mines to make ends meet, the queen sits in her royal quarters and is taken care of by servants. In Little Snow-White, the dedication of the seven dwarfs towards working in the mines indicates how hard work among men is cherished in German culture.

Japan

Japanese fairy tales reveal how they believe in nobility and are organized in that manner politically. Nobility. Princess Hase who is a top performer in poetry and playing instruments are called upon to impress the emperor in the imperial courts. Japanese have high respect for people in power because no one is allowed to view the face of the emperor directly unless permission is granted. In Japanese culture, more attention is given to the intellectual abilities and character of women as the basis for judging their value. Princess Hase is considered a highly valuable woman because when can play the Japanese harp, do poetry and behave respectfully towards people older than her. Japanese fairy tales also reveal that the bad people in society are always punished at the end because of their bad intentions. In the story of Princes Hase, Princess Terute’s life is destroyed as she is forced to flee back to her father’s house after her evil schemes of harming Hase are revealed.
