It is also known as a blended family (Green, 2018). As a lady in her early 40s, the mother is an Hispanic woman, while the father is a Hispanic male in his late 40s. Their home was a five bedroom home with three baths in San Antonio, Texas. In general, both parents are religious, but do not pursue their religion aggressively.
Why is this different from traditional Hispanic culture?
Traditional Hispanic culture primarily dictated that the man is the economic provider of the family. He is in charge of making the rules and decisions and offering protection. The traditional Hispanic woman is tasked with domestic chores, making sure the house is in order, and looking after the children. The decision-making is not entirely equal, as the man has the final say (Miville et al., 2017).
The family goals of a Hispanic culture depend on the gender of the child. For boys, they are groomed through education and other important family knowledge passed down by their father. They are exposed to just enough education to sustain their marriages and future families. For girls, they are taught to be responsible, humble, and obedient in preparation for marriage. Not much emphasis is given on their education, as some poor families see them as the ticket out of poverty when they receive the bride price.
Marriage in Hispanic culture is an important aspect of the family. It helps them preserve the tradition of a close-knit family-oriented culture. Therefore, Hispanic culture strongly condemns living together before marriage. They believe in the importance of blessing the unification. As staunch catholic believers, marriage is given priority and conducted in front of a priest. Consequently, they also advocate for love and unity in the family and thus discourage single parenting. In the event that it occurs, the mother and the children are welcomed back to their matrimonial home and given support. Domestic partnership is also not encouraged, and although it is a legal partnership, emphasis is still put on the value of marriage and blessings.
The Catholics family’s beliefs have always been strong advocates for the value of marriage and family life. The church believes that such unions are based on the foundation of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Thus, the church has always strongly condemned divorce, sexual immorality, respect for parents, among other values. But with recent trends among generations, changes in the idea of divorces and single parenting are common. The catholic church allows divorces in case of constant conflict, unlike before, where the divorce was only granted in case of the death of one spouse.

As much as Hispanics believe in the healing power of faith in Christianity, they still value healthcare. However, some crucial decisions on matters relating to abortion and euthanasia are prohibited according to their values and beliefs as life is sacred to them (Johnson & Farquharson, 2019).
Conflict and stress related to family issues are discouraged in the Hispanic culture, and arbitration is always sought to make sure that the family remains intact on the foundation of love.
