Include archetypes, literary elements, figurative language, and academic vocabulary words you learned in the course to shape your story. What is the setting, plot, characters, etc. How will you use figurative language such as metaphor and alliteration? What type of characters will you include? Ensure that you also demonstrate a clear point-of-view such as omniscient, limited omniscient, third-person, narrative, or first person, within your story.

Your short story should include a title, and be a minimum of 1 page and a maximum of 5 pages in length. Please submit a typed paper, using Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, and double-spaced lines (Please space your lines). Be sure to also use paragraph formatting, with the first line of each paragraph being indented.

Justice Delayed

As he stepped barefoot into the melting ice on the dark street on Monk Street, New York City, he knew that the police would inevitably catch up to him. It wasn’t his fault, however, that the bloodstains pointed at him as the victim. It wasn’t his fault that the knife he was desperately trying to hide meant that he was the murderer. As he hid near a dust bin, trying to escape the sight of the dozen patrolling officers, he started reminiscing of a doomed-to-be day that had started innocently. It was the NBA finals. Having won 3-0 to their rivals LA Lakers, they were just one win away from their first-ever NBA championship. Ecstatic as a newborn, the game went according to plan, as Draymond scored a record 70 points in any NBA championship League final.

The night was fi8llled with an eerie of activity, but he eventually got to sneak to his hotel room with his but now deceased girlfriend, Denise. All he could now remember as he started trembling as the cold finally got hold of him was him waking up, holding a knife at hand, his girlfriend lifeless in a pool of blood on their bed. Could he tell or call the police? Wouldn’t he be held as the prime suspect, considering their previous and renowned relationship based on public drama and domestic violence? But then he thought. And what came to mind felt like a good idea, but one that certainly would go in his favor in a court of law trying to declare him an innocent man.

Now here he was, sirens blaring behind and in front of him, the bloody knife still at hand and barefooted. Finally, there was no sound, no sight of the patrol police, just the 2 a.m. silence of a city tired from their daily turmoil of a promising tomorrow. He then spotted an isolated space underneath a bridge and decided to make a run for it. Little did he know that an undercover cop covering a drug burst had been following for long had just spotted him!
