Global mobility podcast

You will write the podcast script and I will use it to record my podcast, so please make sure it sounds casual and free flowing. The podcast will detail a reflection about your learning about teaching in another culture. Drawing upon critical incidents that occurred during your cross-cultural engagement with your cultural mentor and the learnings in online sessions, you will reflect on the effectiveness of your experiences and the learning activities , as well as the challenges. You will articulate your insights about the similarities and differences in the education sector that you experienced and compare your learning to your professional goals identified previously in Assessment 1. In your podcast you will discuss your development as a teacher because of the experience. The podcast should last for between 12-15 minutes. (You can make these up, I hardly attended so also talk about how you missed some of the mentor sessions).

Cross-Cultural Engagement Podcast Script

Welcome to the (your name) podcast, where we interact and share important life-based ideas. We are all about learning tips that can allow one to advance their life outcomes. In today’s topic, we assess the issue of cross-cultural engagement and how it shapes a teacher’s career growth and development.

Are you curious about what it takes to teach and learn in another culture? Well, you are in the right place. In this podcast, I will introduce you to insights revolving around cross-cultural engagement in the learning domain. Through my experience, you will get a chance to learn more about teaching in another culture and how this shapes a person’s professional goals. This podcast is highly informative, and by the end of it, you will have a better understanding of cross-cultural engagement in the learning domain and how teachers build vital skills based on this exposure.

I was placed under a mentor who was expected to expose me to a different language. I believed that this was one of my best chances to become deeply immersed in another cultural language, thus being better positioned to deliver educational content to the learners. At first, we had a difficult time interacting due to language barriers. I would say that I did not express optimal interest in learning about the other culture’s background, which primarily affected my understanding. However, my mentor remained resilient and taught me everything about the other language. Some of the key activities that I undertook were book reading and online interactional sessions.

My mentor ensured that I accessed books and other educative content that exposed me to the other cultural language. I got a viable chance of learning keywords linked to the language. This would enable me to connect words into statements. Also, as we interacted with the mentor using this language after reading the books, I learned it even better. However, it was not easy because I would occasionally compare some of the words with my language. I felt as if I was culturally biased at this moment. However, this did not restrain me from the learning process.

One of the key opportunities that I believed gave me better exposure was the online sessions that I had with the mentor. Even though I missed out on most of these sessions, the limited engagement accelerated my understanding of this language. I believe that the book reading process enabled me to learn better about the other dialect.

This mentorship opportunity enabled me to understand the rationale for teachers to learn different languages. This ensures that they can interact better with the students in the classroom setting. Due to the rising diversity status in the education sector, teachers are expected to position themselves in a better place to interact, associate, and communicate effectively with all learners. This calls for them to learn various languages depending on the students’ cultural background. The experience enabled me to familiarize myself with the core professional teaching goals that I had established in the previous assessment. These goals include accelerating educational equity, empowering students, and facilitating intercultural understanding in the classroom environment. When a teacher is exposed to numerous languages, these goals are achievable.

You might be wondering how the experience shaped my professional teaching skills, especially in a cross-cultural setting. Well, I believe that it enabled me to build effective skills and characteristics capable of creating a conducive learning environment. Due to the high diversity situation in the classroom setting, teachers must ensure equity, empowerment, freedom, and intergroup understanding. Notably, I have learned to be a better communicator and build trusting and productive relationships with the learners. I am better positioned to achieve these milestones after the cross-cultural learning exposure. For instance, I can recognize different ways of communication that various cultural groups possess and ensure that I handle students better through effective management of emotions, feelings, and attitudes.

This podcast is a lesson for all teachers to ensure that they participate in cross-cultural learning opportunities. Through mentoring and other vital opportunities, teachers can vastly understand different global languages to ensure they can relate and interact better with students. This boosts learners’ outcomes as it builds a conducive learning environment.

Therefore, I urge all teachers to have a similar experience as I did and stand a better chance of delivering effective results for the learners in the school environment. Cross-cultural engagement is an excellent way to understand the numerous dialects globally and incorporate the lessons learned into the education domain. This is a major step that stands to advance a teacher’s skills and improve learner’s welfare as a result of a potential learning environment.

Thank you for listening to my podcast. I hope you have picked one or two ideas regarding the role of cross-cultural engagement in boosting teachers’ developmental and professional skills. I believe that all teachers will take the initiative to learn about other cultural dialects to establish a better learning environment. Until the next time, feel free to engage me on this platform by offering your views and opinions regarding our topic of the day. Stay tuned for our next interesting episode.
