13 Going on 30?

Team and Group Considerations

A group is a collection of people performing as individuals, while a team is a collection of people with a common commitment. There are different types of work, project, virtual, and self-managed teams (Urick, 2021). The movie clip involves different groups of people in a bar or at a party with different reasons as to why they came or attended. They, however, form a team when the dancer starts dancing and the rest join in. the team formed is one of the dancers who are focused on one thing, which is dancing and having a good time. Managers can try to accomplish different things from the video. They can demonstrate the importance of working in a team through the movie clip. When the dancer moved to the middle of the dance floor and was dancing alone, it looked awkward and uncoordinated ( McGraw-Hill Producers, 2008). However, this changed when she was joined by someone one can assume is an acquaintance. Once somebody else joins in the dance floor, the other people in the club start paying attention to what is going on.

The dance floor eventually fills up with people dancing in coordinated choreographed movements. It no longer looks awkward because the people are working together. Another factor that managers would consider is teaching the success that can be attained when people work as a team and not as a group. Teamwork brings people together, and success is better when it is shared. The people on the dance floor are happier when dancing together as a team, not when doing it alone. They seem to enjoy each move, and everybody seems happy, even those who are watching from the sidelines. This shows that when people work in teams, they have better chances of success and inspire other people to join the team, or it influences them to clap for them or have their back.

Another lesson that managers can derive from the clip for the good of the organization is that sometimes it takes one bold person taking the first step for others to join. The dancer first took the tape to the DJ started dancing, and eventually, other people joined them ( McGraw-Hill Producers, 2008). This can also be to the leaders within the organization that sometimes they have to lead by example. This means they have to take the first step, and then their subordinates will follow them (Urick, 2021). People in an organization are a team as they are committed to a common commitment. They should therefore be dancing to the same moves. This can be achieved by working in a team and showing their followers how they should work together as a team. Different groups of people within the organization can also come together and work as a team.
