Shift supervisors are expected to maintain a high productivity rate within the company by ensuring employees diligently execute their instruction, and ensure customer welfare is guaranteed (Alkhateri et al., 2018). Therefore, shift supervisors are integral to the success of the company, as they are the eyes and ears of the managers. In addition, shift supervisors monitor how their employees perform during their shifts (Hsieh, 2021). They are tasked with the responsibility of maximizing customer satisfaction through receiving and handling complaints.

Job Brief

We at Home Improvement Center are looking for a third-night shift supervisor who will oversee the operations of our company from 10 pm-6 pm. We are looking for a skilled night shift supervisor with the required skills and experience that will match the expectations and culture of the company. On a daily basis, you will be required to supervise the employees under your shift, making sure that they complete their tasks. The night shift superior will also be expected to act as a reference point between the customers and the employees, ensuring that any problems are fixed, with minimal consultations (and only if need be) from the shift manager. The ultimate role will be ensuring that Home Improvement Center maintains its reputation by understanding the overall goal of the company is achieved.

Responsibilities

As a night shift supervisor, the following are some of the responsibilities that you will be required to undertake;

  • The management of daily routines, employee shifts, and time-off requests. The breaks are to be kept at minimal requests.
  • Mitigate customer’s and employees complaints.
  • Ensure that the company’s daily and expected sales and production are met.
  • Handle and resolve conflicts quickly.
  • Ensure staff morale is maintained and the conflicts are minimized.
  • Provide necessary guidance and feedback from employees
  • Be the bridge between the management and employees, and ensure fairness is observed across different employees and levels of the department.

Requirement and Skills

  • Have both supervisory and retail business experience, preferably in houseware.
  • Ability to multitask through handling the tasks from managers and ensuring that employees complete their tasks at the required time.
  • Have teamwork experience, which is essential at Home Improvement Center.
  • Fully understand the safety industry standards and ensure that the employees comply with them. This will ensure that the employees are protected from harm or injuries, as the work is characterized by heavy lifting.
  • Possess leadership and conflict management skills to handle conflicts promptly, and make sure that they do not interrupt the free-flowing of the company’s operations.
  • Have a High School diploma. Candidates with a degree in management will be regarded as an added advantage.
