ANSWER

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence deals with developing computer programs that accomplish tasks which can otherwise demand human intelligence (Haenlein and Kaplan, 2019). Therefore, artificial intelligence is demonstrated by machines compared to natural intelligence which is displayed by humans. Some of the activities that are linked to artificial intelligence include problem solving, planning, learning, speech recognition, language translation and decision making (Helm et al., 2020).

Artificial intelligence is capable of adapting and predicting using algorithms that discover patterns (Russell, 2019). They also make decisions on their own through augmenting human intelligence, improving productivity and delivering insights (Shabbir and Anwer, 2018). There are various types of AI machines based on functionalities. These include reactive machines, limited memory, self-aware and theory of mind. Limited memory retain data for short period of time since the data is used for a short period (Franzoni, Milani and Nardi, 2019). The theory of mind imitates the mental models of human beings through creating representations of the world that relate to humans. Self-aware machines are predict their own demands and needs and relate to others which make the machine conscious or aware. Reactive machines tend to perceive the world as it is and react on the present.

AI machines have been used for personalized shopping, autonomous vehicles, facial recognition, hiring process, AI-powered assistants, fraud prevention and voice assistant (Winfield, 2019). For instance, artificial intelligence can rely on browsing data to spontaneously offer shopper with new product selections after visiting an online store thus improving the customer experience. Some of the real life examples where AI has been used include self-driving cars, Boston dynamics, self-driving cars, navigation systems, computer game and chatbot. Chatbots have human-like conversations with users through text messages on service channels of email, phone and social media (Davenport and Ronanki, 2018). Some of the benefits for using AI include enabling multitasking and eases workload, accelerating decision making through making the process smarter and faster, reducing human error and taking risks instead of humans and helping in carrying out repetitive jobs (Nadikattu, 2016).

There are risks linked to the use of artificial intelligence such as data sourcing which violates personal privacy, AI terrorism, biased algorithms leading to unfairly biased outcomes, AI trust deficit and changes in human experience and loss of certain jobs. For instance, when the AI is dangerous when programmed for devastating and destructive goals (Kaplan and Haenlein, 2020). Generally, AI technology has been important for human capabilities such as reasoning, understanding, planning, perception and communication.
