Ford has gone ahead to build an all-electric truck named F-150, which is said to be the smartest and the most connected F-150. The truck is expected to be cleared and termed a Zero tailpipe emission vehicle. During the truck’s release, various advantages, such as the truck being fully electric and more environmentally conscious, have been used to show the benefit of the truck. However, the company could have changed various factors to have a different marketing strategy that could help sell more. In this report, an analysis of the marketing mix has been done to get a clearer view of improving the marketing strategies.

Product

The product has a hybrid power train; it becomes noisy when powering the onboard generator. This disadvantages the truck as people would want more silent powering of the generator. If the manufacturers could have made the generator to be less noisy while powering it on, the product could be highly refereed by people who are noise sensitive. The company could then use this to give it to people while advertising hence getting increased sales. The interior storages are also less spaced, disadvantageous to people who want to carry along their languages. Further, the interior is not versatile; this, in turn, does not offer a chance to the customers to have new experiences. It is just like any other truck; there is nothing special about storage.

Price

The price that has been listed on the truck is expensive that many people cannot afford. Although the truck has exciting features, it still offers a high price that many people cannot afford to purchase. It could be a better option if the company reduced the price by 40% of every truck, which differs about the type and specifications of the truck listed. In the US market, the price ranges from $28, 940 which is among the lower prices offered. For the super cab, its lowest price is $33,025, while the super crew model’s lowest price is $36 650. In consideration for trucks by Chevrolet, they start at $19 995 (Mulholland, 2022). This disadvantages the purchase rate of the trucks as they are two times the price of other trucks. If the prices could be reduced so that the lowest prices range with how its competitors are selling, the trucks could receive high sales.

Distribution

The distribution of the trucks has been limited such that not everyone can have their reserve. First, the orders were opened in January 2022, limiting many people who had already heard about the truck from purchasing the trucks (Whitby, 2022). According to statistics, the expected demands of the trucks that Ford had estimated have been exceeded, which means that the company cannot satisfy the existing market. For one to own the truck, they are to be invited to place their orders. However, not all reserves have been asked to purchase their truck with the demand.

In some cases, the company will contact the reservation holders in waivers where if they have placed an order and the manufacturers cannot manage to produce it by the end of 2022; the company will push the order in the next year. Or they will receive a different model if they are not willing to wait for another year. It could be better if the company organizes.

Promotions/Communications

The company has also made efforts to ensure that it offers incentives, including offers such as discounts to its customers. However, it has more specialized offers in different locations; people can only access certain offers when they reside in specific areas. If they do not live in the said locations, they cannot have the offers. This company is a global company that offers its products to the worldwide world. It could be better if the company considers more of making the offers on a global reach. Anyone from different countries can access the offers; this will also be an added advantage to developing countries as they can afford the trucks without breaking their banks. It will also help reduce the price of the trucks, making them affordable. Considering that the initial cost of the trucks is high, which makes it more expensive to be cheap, increasing the incentives can be of advantage.

Target Market

With this product, the company has targeted a high-class population. In our societies today, the high-class people are few. If all the high class in the societies own the truck, which is possible as they can afford this, then the number of trucks that will be manufactured will not be as many that can help the company record high prices. With the pricing, the company has been able to segment and direct the trucks to the high class; if the company could have included the middle class, it would be easy for the company to maximize sales (Johnson, 2021). More models of the Ford Electric F150 truck could have been sold.

Furthermore, it could also become realistic for marketing for the general population. Currently, the company has focused on marketing for the general population, which becomes unrealistic to market a product to someone you know they cannot afford (Mikler, 2012). Hence, lowering the price could help increase the company’s target market, maximizing sales.
