Why Hiring APRN brings Added Value to Healthcare Practice

Advanced practice registered nurses are nurses that have met advanced education and training in clinical practice such as clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, and nurse midwives who play a significant role in improving healthcare. APRNs are care providers at the forefront of offering preventive care services to patients (Lindeke, Avery, and White, 2015). APRNs can treat and diagnose patients, advise on different public health issues, engage in continued education, manage chronic diseases and remain ahead of methodological and developmental fields in healthcare. There is a need to bring APRNs within a healthcare organization since they add value to the healthcare practice.

In the current healthcare system, APRNs are becoming extremely valuable. APRNs are at a higher level than traditional nurses and have their roles differentiated, increasing their expertise. They are vital in addressing chronic medical conditions, increasing access to healthcare, and meeting the health needs of most underserved populations. APRNs have clinical expertise in identifying and treating health disorders, emphasizing health promotion and illness prevention (Woo et al., 2020). They bring an individual touch and inclusive perspective to healthcare.

One of the greatest values of APRNs is the direct clinical practice they offer. They have a great breadth and depth of knowledge, high complexity of intervention and skills, and role autonomy which helps in health promotion, management of patient problems, diagnosis, and assessment, including description and use of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches (Moseley, 2012). Therefore, APRNs can work even in the absence of care or with doctors to facilitate quality care. For instance, a Nurse practitioner has been prepared through advanced clinical education and training to offer a wide range of acute and preventive healthcare services to persons of all ages. They can take health histories, conduct physical examinations, treat the most common chronic and acute problems, and manage therapies and medications.

Adding advanced nurse practitioners is a meaningful way to ensure that practices align with the contemporary efforts to improve care access and quality of care. Through their advanced education and training, they will offer health teaching to nurses to improve the quality of health with an emphasis on health and illness maintenance. Additionally, their primary care practices will embrace a more diverse care provider configuration, strengthening overall healthcare delivery.

APRNs are engaging in continuous education, ensuring they remain ahead of any healthcare developments, technological or methodological advancements (Hamric et al., 2013). They will play a major role in transforming care through their understanding of the evolving technology and healthcare practices. They will support and improve the existing clinical care by enhancing the capability and capacity of care providers.

Advanced practice registered nurses focus on patient-centered care. They are trained and educated to care for the whole person, listen to the patients, build a relationship and rely on diagnostic and evidence tools to find care strategies and activities that will fit the patient’s lifestyles (Hanks, Eloi, and Stafford, 2019). The patient-centered nature of the APRNs will add value to the practice through increased patient satisfaction and alignment with the patient’s expectations, thereby improving the individual health outcomes. Therefore, advanced practice registered nurses will contribute to quality patient care and optimal health.

Conclusion

Hiring APRNs brings added value to the healthcare practice since they have proven their effectiveness in delivering high-quality care. They can assess patients and offer treatment through their knowledge and skills, which allow them to act as primary care medical providers. Utilizing the APRNs to the fullest extent of their clinical and educational training will play a critical role in improving the primary care practice and offer immediate support in healthcare reform.
