Piaget’s stages of development tell about where a child should be in their development at different stages and what it should look like. The concrete operational stage is the third stage, exists among children at the age of seven to eleven years, and is defined by the change in rational and organized thinking (Babakr, Mohamedamin, and Kakamad, 2019). One of the main features of the concrete operational phase is the capability to center on many parts of the issue. The concrete operational stage is focused on logical thinking, which is illustrated by the concept of necessary truth. Thinking tends to be very solid, but children are more sophisticated and logical in their thoughtfulness during this development stage.
The concrete operational stage serves as a substantial transition amid the last development and the impending stages, where children learn how to reason hypothetically and more abstractly (Oogarah-Pratap, Bholoa, and Ramma, 2020). Additionally, the concrete operational stage is characterized by varying logical operations such as classification and conversation, which allow logical reasoning. The ability of a child to engage in inductive and critical thinking means that they consider open-ended questions and draw understanding from the information. The main aim of this stage is to help children start thinking logically and applying logic to things. The development at this stage does not stand alone but consists of a building block of abilities and skills children gain through earlier cognitive development stages. Parents can do a lot with their children as they enter the concrete operational stage by communicating to the child reasons for engaging in various activities.
