Human Development Peer Reply

Students should respond to at least one original post by supplying a different (3rd) theory on the fact (observable behavior in the original post). You don’t have to think the theory is right. You are only showing how different theories can apply to the same behavior. Do not respond to another student by saying that you agree or disagree with the theories already described. Do not respond by talking about the observable behavior in other people.

Hello, according to the psychosocial theory of development, the patterned changes in one’s development, including identity formation, social relationships, and worldview across the lifespan, is a result of one’s interactions with other people and their social environment (Lally & Valentine-French, 2019). According to this theory, there is a need to introduce a new stage between adolescence and early adulthood. The socio-economic climate is changing. Unlike in the past when people moved out of their parents’ houses where they got to 18 years, they now stay till they are in their twenties. Some even stay till their late twenties and their early 30s. This is due to the changes in the environment. One’s understanding of themselves is impacted by the environment in which they interact. This is the reason some children will stay in their parent’s houses till late in their 20s and others move out in their early 20s. It is also impacted by the changes in education systems where many young people pursue a college education after high school. This makes them still dependent on their parents until they complete their college education.

According to the psychosocial learning theory, the changes in the social environment have changed the way young people see themselves, and thus the need for the new stage between 18 and 25 years is known as emerging adulthood. This gives them a chance to find themselves and interact with the environment to be independent.
