Thank you for receiving my order, this is going to be documentation of a respiratory examination. The instructions given are to perform a history of a respiratory problem that either your instructor has provided you or one that you have experienced and perform a respiratory assessment. You will document your ”subjective” and ”objective” findings and identify ”actual or potential risks”(headings to be included in the assignment). Please make sure to follow the grading rubric and content which I am going to be attaching.
ANSWER
Respiratory System
Subjective
The patient is a 21-year-old Caucasian white female. The patient does not have a past history of respiratory health conditions. They are not under any medications, and there is no family history of respiratory issues such as Asthma. The patient currently moved cities and has been experiencing cough symptoms. At first, she thought that it was the flu, but she decided to visit the hospital after having a persistent cough for more than two weeks. The cough produces sputum, and she has a low fever. She bought some over-the-counter antibiotics to treat the cough and has tried using homemade medications such as ginger and honey to treat the cough. The patient has a history of vaping but on rare occasions when she goes out for a party.
Objective
The patient complained of experiencing laboured breathing. She said she felt pain anytime she coughed and experienced shortness of breath (Wilson & Giddens, 2020). The chest expansion is symmetrical. The patient has also been wheezing during expiration and during inspiration. The patient is experiencing adventitious lung sounds such as wheezing. Sounds in the normal lung tissues are clear and low-pitched.
Risk Factors
One of the risk factors that the patient might be facing, in this case, is acute bronchitis. The symptoms of acute bronchitis include an initial cough, wheezing, tiredness, and low fever, and the cough can last from between 10 days to three weeks (Wilson & Giddens, 2020). Another risk factor that the patient might be experiencing, in this case, is a chronic cough. Chronic coughs last up to eight weeks in adults. The wheezing and the sputum in the patient’s cough mean that the patient should be taken for tests immediately to ensure that they get the correct diagnosis.
