Psychological principles have been derived from the works of researchers in the scientific field who studies the mind and behavior and attempt to produce theoretical explanations in the topics and contribute to medical offerings. Psychological principles affect the study of behavior by giving guidelines on how the research should occur (Weiten, 2021). In psychology and the study of human behavior, ethical guidelines exist on how human subjects should be treated. Human beings should be treated with dignity, and their privacy should be preserved; thus, psychological principles ensure that human subjects’ privacy is maintained and that human life is protected. There are scientific principles in psychology, including the principles such as correlational studies, which ensure that all psychological studies on behavior have accurate findings.
Behaviors are basically any actions by human beings. Basically, anything such as choosing to go to work or staying at home and sleeping. Certain behaviors are considered by psychologists or the public as deviant or alternative. Most of these behaviors are personally rewarding, such that only a few individuals are brave enough to do them. Parameters of behavioral deviance are considered to differ from what is considered normal. They can be classified in terms of the type of behavior, such as sexual behavioral deviance or political behavioral deviance. The various therapies of deviant behavior include doing positive things that are not a norm to the public. They include doing things such as complimenting a stranger, helping a stranger load their groceries, or paying for a stranger’s lunch. These are not social norms but positive in the public eye.
Psychological principles affect the study of individual differences in that they consider how individuals differ. Everyone is unique, and therefore they have different responses to different programs. The uniqueness may be a result of gender, injuries, chronic conditions, emotional states, genetics, shape, and size. These are considered in the study of psychology and individual differences (Chamorro-Premuzic, 2016). Psychological principles include; cognition and learning, motivation, social and emotional dimensions, context, and learning and assessment. These affect the study of individual differences as they help in the understanding of how each individual is different from the next. Psychology is mostly concerned with the study of universal laws that govern behavior. Therefore, the study of individual differences complements the study of individual differences by trying to understand the diversity of human beings.
Psychology plays a role in different areas of life. In organizations, psychologists study and assess individuals, groups, and organizational dynamics (Riggio, 2017). The data acquired from studying the different dynamics are used to identify the solutions to the problems in the workplace. For example, if the workplace is facing problems, psychologists will study the problems and suggests solutions depending on the data they have collected and use the data to create solutions. In education, psychologists are focused on identifying and studying the learning methods to better understand how people learn and retain information. For example, students understand and retain information differently in a class situation. Psychology can be applied in education to help teachers identify different learning methods for different students (Di Vesta, 2017). Psychology is also used in education to control deviant behavior among students. Psychology is used to study deviant behavior and identify patterns. These patterns are used to help the students to get back on track or to understand the causes of the deviant behavior.
