This paper will require you to apply organizational theories and concepts.
Use below paper as abstract (Add references from abstract in combination with paper) and part of the paper. First, define your approved organization as you wish in terms of the whole or of the part that is most relevant. 2 pages, provide a description of two to three problems identified. Your description need not be elaborate but should provide enough information to enable someone unfamiliar with the organizational issues to understand the essentials. This portion should be just the facts, a description, not an analysis of the key events. If using a personal workplace, feel free to disguise names of people and the organization if you desire.
After you have set the foundation, apply theories such as rational, natural, and open sytems and theories like technology strutctures and social boundaries and theories like network organization and environmental process to analyze your AMC Theaters and its identified problems. Utilizing the three perspectives, ensure clarity is evident on areas of which system, organizational environment, and changes as part of your analysis.
Lastly, provide a personal perspective that discusses what you would implement to address the problems to move the organization forward as part of the evolving changes for organizations today.

Abstract below:
AMC Movie theater Organization
Effects of Automation
The use of automated projectors and ticket selling in movie theaters eliminates the possibility of human errors providing efficiency and smooth running. Movie theaters using automatic projectors are less likely to experience wrong angles during projection since everything is preset and precise (James, 2017). The automation of the projector ensures a better experience to the audience and boosts confidence in the theater owners and operators while marketing for the services (Muhammedrisaevna, Mubinovna, & Kizi, 2020). Digital tickets are easier to track and verify in theaters since they have unique numbers and codes that are different. Digital tickets help avoid loss and fraud when selling and verifying tickets.
However, organization automation may cause a problem due to mechanical breakdown affection the operations of a movie theater. If the projectors fail in the middle of a movie, without the experts around may lead to inconvenience and frustration among the audience in the theater (Tairova, & Rakhmatullaeva, 2020). Mostly, even with the automated projectors, the theater is forced to employ an operator and expert on standby in case of system failures. The same is done on the online sold tickets if the scanning machines fail or there are problems with some tickets.
Information technology effects on organization
The introduction of information technology on organization simplifies the finding of files and records, reducing the number of bulk physical files used for record-keeping. Reducing the number of physical files also creates space for other activities and things to be stored (Weller, 2021) Arranging and tracing things becomes more accessible with the introduction of information technology in the organization.
However, introducing information technology in an organization requires the employees to familiarize themselves with the technology. The employees of an organization are required to be reliant and conversant with the introduced technology for easier troubleshooting and problem solving on an organization. The introduced technology requires the employees to understand every use concept.
ANSWER
AMC Organizational Concepts and Theories
Organization Definition
An AMC entertainment theater is abbreviated from American Multi-Cinema (AMC) (Harrigan & Malyshkin, 2020). It is an American movie theater having its headquarters in Leawood, Kansas. It is one of the largest movie theater chains in the world. It has also been hosted in other countries where they refer to it as AMC cinemas or others call it AMC multi cinemas. AMC theater was founded in 1920 by Barney Dubinsky, Edward and Maurice, who were actors traveling within the Midwest acting with the melodramas with Jeanne Eagles (Guo, 2018). They bought reagent theaters, which they later changed to Durwood theaters. In 1968, the name was also American Multi Cinema Inc (Hanson, 2019). By the 1980’s, the company started to experience growth, leaving it one of the tops with public demand.
AMC theater has the highest number of shares within the US theater industry. It is then followed by Regal and then Cinemark theaters. In 2016, it acquired the Odeon Cinemas, UCI Cinemas, and Carmike cinemas that, later, made it one of the world’s largest movie theaters (Du & Jaw, 2018). In total, it has up to 2,866 screens in Europe. AMC also has 7,967 screens within the theaters in the US (Ambrosio & Fidalgo, 2020). The organization got its name listed in the New York stock exchange for six years lasting from 2012 to 2018. The Chinese conglomerates were the major owners of the largest stake (Su, 2021). Due to its good performance, a private equity firm invested with stocks of up to $600 million; the private firm was known as Silver Lake partners. However, despite that another private company had bought more stocks, it was still the Wanda group that had the major control of the company. With the impact of Covid, Wanda’s ownership has been reduced because of the funding made by AMC and Silver Lake that was used in settling its debt. Wanda then converted its shares to call A that reduced its voting power. However, it has also been one of the companies that have been affected by Covid 19 as we saw it closing its theaters due to the regulations that had been input by the government.
Problems Identified
Lack of automated projectors has been among the company’s challenges. The company has manually controlled projectors that sometimes affect its efficiency in having the best angel to show the films. In some cases, they have ended up with poor film shows as clients end up disappointed due to disruptions as the employees try to fix the angles that affect the smooth running of films. This has made some film lovers stop using their theaters, affecting their sales. Having manual projectors is also a challenge to the company as they are forced to hire a crew that will help set up the projectors and ensure that the right angles, including the right lightings, have been achieved (Wang & Zhang, 2021).
In comparison to the automatic projectors, there is no need for high numbers of crews to help in ensuring that the correct settings have been achieved. This is expensive for the company to ensure that they hire expert crews who will perform the required tasks. In some cases, even employees fail to come to work due to sickness and also, as other issues arise, it becomes hard for the theaters to operate as experts fail to show up. Sometimes it also might become hard to achieve the right settings, hence affecting the people’s view. Also, it might develop mechanical errors easily as it is not advanced to work with certain settings. This hence affects its quality and also affects what the customers will be seeing.
Ticket purchasing has also been a problem. While offering services, it is essential to ensure that they are easily accessible to the clients. This directs to the point that having store points as places to purchase tickets in this era is a challenge the company faces. People nowadays want to have more accessible ways to purchase their tickets. Having an online site where tickets are purchased is an essential thing that if a company lacks this, they might be missing from many of the customers (Fu & Feng, 2018). People want to purchase the tickets at the comfort of their homes; some even want to purchase the tickets while in other countries, where they plan themselves to ensure that they get in the cinemas as a refreshing event, especially for the business people who have been busy for the whole week. Paper tickets are also a challenge to many people; sometimes, they get lost, which means that the buyers cannot access the cinemas as they have no certification that they paid for their slots.
Compared to the online tickets, it is hard to get them lost, and even if it is lost, the buyers can ask the managers to check them through the systems and either give them another ticket or grant them access to the cinemas. This also portrays a threat to the public as many people sell fake tickets. This, in turn, affects the company’s brand image as people who were victims brand the company as fraudsters. It would be difficult to convince a victim that it’s not the company selling the fake tickets. However, even if the company introduces online tickets, it is important to consider having someone by the machine. If someone’s ticket fails to be coded, the personnel can help by looking through the systems to ensure that the person made the payments.
The third problem that the company is facing is that the company lacks information technology in organizing the files and records (Tallon & Sharma, 2019). Manual organization of files and records is tiring, and these can get lost easily. Consider the case where someone has come to have their tickets lost; it will be hard to go through a ton of files to verify that the individual made a payment. The files might also get lost or destroyed by water or if rodents attack them. If someone comes claiming that they paid but did not get the ticket, it will become hard for the company to verify the payment.
Compared to online modes, the company can easily verify if the person made the payment. Having a ton of physical files is not as enticing as it may seem; this will end up taking large spaces that could be converted and be used for more important and productive things. Not that the files are not important, but if the spaces are converted into customer services areas, it could be much better as this could help improve the services offered to the customers hence increasing sales. Compared to involving technological ways, a ton of files can be stored within a single computer or a single flash disk. Referring to the files is easy; all one needs is to input the keyword where the file will be located within seconds.
In comparison locating a file physically might take hours which is more tiring. However, if the company implements technology in storing the files, they have to ensure that all the employees are conversant with the systems. They should choose easy-to-use systems that are easy to use; hence, they won’t give the employees a hard time, making them make mistakes, making the whole process difficult.
Theories Application
Technological Structures
The current change in how entertainment is delivered to the public raises concerns if theaters will still be the major source of entertainment in the theater industry. Even though many researchers have claimed that the digitalization of entertainment will outdo the theaters, there is still an opportunity that the theater industries can utilize technology to solve some of the existing challenges they face. This will not only work in helping them solve the challenges, but it will also take place in helping improve the experience at the cinemas. If there is a change in the experience, this will still lure people as they will want to have access to the new experiences. Cinemas can use technology to improve customer preferences and also improve capacity utilization. In this case, technology can be used to improve the storage capacity of the files and help improve the search and find of files such that employees will also have an easy time when it comes to locating files. Technology will also help improve the organization and operations within the AMC as it comes with online tickets; people can purchase tickets from the comfort of their homes. Some can also watch films from the comfort of their homes. This improves the operations, but it also looks into the customer’s preferences. Some people might want to get the cinema feeling but they cannot because they cannot leave their homes. Giving them a chance such that a person can watch from home is on another level as it will also ensure the continuity of the cinemas. Further technology can also improve operation and cut the cost of operations as it comes with more advanced operations such as improved projectors, improved lighting devices, and AI 3D glasses that will also help improve the viewers’ experience.
Network Organization
Within the theaters, it is family-like, customers have to be understood, and the employers have to be understood; this also includes the employees. It is important to ensure that the network has been improved and advanced for a smooth operation on both ends. By ensuring that they create better ways to access the tickets and also helping them have a much better experience, the organization is bound to grow at a higher rate. Creating such a network, a culture of care, and a culture of helping the clients have a more digitized experience will be created. In the existing times, the culture created has not yet been reviewed. It still has the operations used in the times long ago, which affect their network. This makes some people in the network leave the circle and goes find better circles where they can appreciate technology and also help them get new experiences. Having automated projectors also help the employees have an easy time while operating; this at the same time will create a culture in the network that they are appreciated in return; they will offer their best hence increasing in customers that in turn will increase the profit margin. Hence if the company considers high rates of network organization within the clients, who are more focused on having newly experienced and being served well, the employees who want to be appreciated, the company can easily increase its sales.
Social Boundaries
In a normal society, people have different classes, while offering the films, AMC has to consider this. People who are more obsessed with technology will not dare to come to purchase a physical ticket. However, in turn, people who are not obsessed will purchase. In reality, people obsessed with technology are the youths who are among the largest population that comes to the cinemas. In comparison, those who prefer physical tickets are majorly the old people who do not majorly understand technology. If still a comparison is made of who comes to the cinemas more often, 90% of the total population is the youth; you will only find up to ten old people in a whole theater room. Hence considering such social factors can be of importance. At the same time, social factors young people will go long, telling people how they had unique experiences with the advanced features that they used while in the movie theaters. This might include automated projectors that offer high-quality pictures and an accurate angle of view. This can also apply to things like 3D glasses and other technological devices. Hence AMC needs to consider the evolving technology to fit in the social classes of people that have been created. This will help them eradicate the problem of having manual projectors that come along with challenges and physical tickets that nowadays are considered analogue. AMC should focus on understanding every client and ensuring that they give every client a chance to fantasize and inspire who they want to be. However, while considering this, they should focus on giving it to the largest population. If they consider more of the less population, they might lose a high number of audiences.
Environmental Process Theory
Setting up a single theater may lead to the deforestation of many trees. This still applies to setting up the different stores in different locations where people can purchase tickets. This hence makes the AMC at risk of being discontinued due to the high rates of environmental destruction that it is being linked to. According to research creating a single sound, the stage can utilize up to 400 hectares of trees (Norton, 2022). It is a common thing that when people think of cinemas, all they see is the movies that they will watch, but people and even companies do not consider having environmentally conscious movie theaters. At the same point, paper is gotten from trees, and for the company to also store all the data of people visiting, they need a tone of the paper. As they continue to use the paper trees are being cut due to the increase in demand. This then raises the need to come up with more environmentally conscious ways that the AMC can indulge in to ensure that they are also protecting the environment.
Furthermore, the company can also consider coming up with campaigns that they can engage in to protect the environment. In this case, with technology, having more online theaters where there is no need to construct and the utilization of extra power used in broadcasting the movies is reduced. Also, a manual operation such as manual operations emits a lot of CO2 that risks air pollution. While at the same time, soil pollution is experienced as they dig more places to lay down the foundation of offices where customers come in to purchase the tickets.
In general, with the available technology, outdoing the problems they face is an easy one. This will also, in turn, help AMC give its clients new experiences and also help improve sales as they will be able to improve the number of customers they will be getting. Technology will also help them make their work easier and improve the quality of films they will be showcasing. Therefore, AMC should focus more on digitizing its services and having a culture that appreciates technology, not only maintaining their initial culture but also trying to adjust to the changing world where what was amusing today might be useless tomorrow. With the high rate of technology giving people new experiences in technology, it is important for all the movie theaters, including AMC, to acknowledge that if they do not get their services to offer a unique experience to people, the services might one day be discontinued.
