PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT BOTH ARTISTS AT THE SAME TIME!

CRITERIA:

• INELIGIBLE artists include Filmmakers (including animators), performance artists, actors, graphic designers, craft artists, and architects. Artist works should be in visual media such as painting, sculpture, mixed media, installation, drawing…
• Ineligible websites: Wikipedia.org, artsy.net, artcyclopedia.com… (or any other “general” art site or any site that is a “sale site”).

She is famously known to be part of the second-generation abstract expressionist painters of the post-Second World War. Helen Frankenthaler is mostly credited for her crucial and pivotal role in Color Field painting transitioning from Abstract Expressionism. Helen is found on page 69 of the coursebook (Blood, LeMieux, & Tekippe, 2016).

Through her Helen Frankenthaler Foundation Inc., she shows dedication to promoting a greater purpose and interest in helping people worldwide understand visual arts. She provides grants and loans to other projects among artists, which is honorable, including providing a platform for educational programs, research and creating a scholarly community that interests me the most. She has a heart beyond art.

One famous Helen Frankenthaler’s art piece is the Mountains and Sea 1952, an oil and charcoal painting on an unsized and unprimed canvas. It was painted using thinned paint poured directly onto an unprimed canvas creating a floating field with translucent colors. The painting has blue and green colors with an abstract form as one cannot immediately see the mountains or any landscape, but rocky and water like images are visible. He is famously known for his leading force behind the abstract expressionist movement’s founding in the art industry. He is famous for his painting style, known as the drip and splash painting style. Pollock is found on pages 4, 19, 49, 69, and 124 of the coursebook (Blood, LeMieux, & Tekippe, 2016).

6. Description of Pollock’s Lucifer 1947 masterpiece painting

One masterpiece, Jackson Pollock’s piece of art, is Lucifer 1947. The painting seems to have been painted through dripping, splattering, and pouring paint onto the canvas directly. There is an outburst colors of yellow, orange, green, and red all over the canvas. The meaning of this painting can be interpreted diversely; however, with the title, it feels as if Pollocks was in a dark moment of his life.
