Helen Frankenthaler left a worthwhile and enormous legacy in the visual arts and painting industry by innovating the soak-stan painting that resulted in a new, highly influential, and well-sought art movement. She interests me because she is a forerunner and the pioneer of new forms of painting in abstract expressionism. This makes her a vital contributor to the history, present, and future of visual arts. Through her Helen Frankenthaler Foundation Inc., she shows dedication to promoting a greater purpose and interest in helping people worldwide understand visual arts. She provides grants and loans to other projects among artists, which is honorable, including providing a platform for educational programs, research and creating a scholarly community that interests me the most. She has a heart beyond art.
One famous Helen Frankenthaler’s art piece is the Mountains and Sea 1952, an oil and charcoal painting on an unsized and unprimed canvas. It was painted using thinned paint poured directly onto an unprimed canvas creating a floating field with translucent colors. The painting has blue and green colors with an abstract form as one cannot immediately see the mountains or any landscape, but rocky and water like images are visible. This painting can be accessed from her website and foundation: https://www.frankenthalerfoundation.org/artworks/mountains-and-sea/details/all (HFF, 2019).

Jackson Pollock presents unique and stylish paintings with an exciting, exceptional touch that has and continues to inspire many influential and upcoming visual artists. Like Helen Frankenthaler, Pollock interests me because he is a forerunner and the pioneer of new forms of painting, such as the drip and splash technique and abstract expressionism art movements. This makes him a vital contributor to the history, present, and future of visual arts. Even more impressive is the drip painting technique, showing action painting, which feels and seems exceptionally enjoyable.
One masterpiece, Jackson Pollock’s piece of art, is Lucifer 1947. The painting seems to have been painted through dripping, splattering, and pouring paint onto the canvas directly. There is an outburst colors of yellow, orange, green, and red all over the canvas. The meaning of this painting can be interpreted diversely; however, with the title, it feels as if Pollocks was in a dark moment of his life.
