What it means to be an American
Being an American means being the face and the symbol of change.
It means that I have to work hard to achieve the American dream.
However, being an American is more complex than being the face of change and achieving the American dream.
It is all about respecting the points of view of others.
It means being respectful and doing what is best for others even when I do not understand it.
Being an American means following the rules.
It means respecting the neighbors and their beliefs without judging them or being rude to them.
Being an American means respecting the rights of others.
It means that I can fight for women’s rights and the rights of different races.
Being an American is all about creating change and working towards being the change one wants to see.
Being an American also means dealing with the bad that comes with the diversity of America.
It means going to the streets and fighting against the police brutality channeled toward people of color.
It means fighting for the people of different sexualities in the midst of the resistance.
It means respecting different people of different religions and avoiding stereotypes.
Being an American means taking accountability for the trauma caused by our ancestors and striving toward bringing peace.
