Building Greater Gender Equality

Initiative Overview

Gender equality is a basic human right which is essential in the achievement of peaceful societies with sustainable development and full human potential. However, despite the fact that gender equality is major concern, there still exists issues of gender discrimination in the society. Gender inequality is a form of discrimination based on gender causing a certain sex to be prioritized and routinely privileged over the other (Carter and Reardon, 2014). Gender inequality has had a long lasting and serious consequence for women due to exposure to objectification, violence and socioeconomic inequality. Gender inequality affects the society through limit the capacity of women to build their personal abilities and make choices regarding their lives (Caliendo, 2021). Therefore, this developmental program will be focused on building gender equality through increasing awareness and offering constructive solutions that will enable all the genders to have a voice in the initiative.

Gender inequality among African Americans is a long-standing problem that has been historically rooted in the institution of slavery. For centuries, African American women have been subjected to sexual harassment and violence, as well as having fewer opportunities for education and employment. The Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s brought about some changes in the status of African American women, but gender inequality still persists (Mullings, 2014). In recent years, there has been a renewed focus on this issue, with the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement and other social justice initiatives. There is no single cause of gender inequality among African Americans, but there are several contributing factors. These include racism, sexism, and economic disparities. Therefore, this developmental proposal on equality among African Americans will focus on addressing the issues affecting equality among African Americans.

The Mission, Vision, and Program Objectives

The mission of the program is to promote gender equality among African Americans through education, advocacy, and community engagement. The vision of the program is to create a society in which all African American women are treated with respect and given equal opportunities. The objectives of the program are to:

  1. Educate the public about the inequality issues facing African American women.
  2. Advocate for policies and practices that promote gender equality among African Americans.
  3. Engage African American communities in promoting gender equality.

The main of this developmental program are to improve the social, economic, and political status of African American women. The program will work to promote gender equality among African Americans through education, advocacy, and community engagement. The program will be implemented in three phases. The program will use a variety of methods to achieve its goals, including public education, advocacy, community engagement, and outreach programs.

Public education will be a key component of the program, as it will raise awareness of the issues facing African American women and the importance of gender equality (Walker, Pearce, Boe and Lawson, 2019). Advocacy will be another key component, as it will work to engage African American women in the political process and fight for policies that support gender equality. Community engagement will be used to build relationships between African American women and the organizations that serve them, and outreach programs will be used to reach out to African American women who may not be aware of the issues facing them or the resources available to them. The developmental program for Gender equality among African Americans will be a comprehensive, multi-faceted program that seeks to address the issue of gender inequality among African Americans from all angles.

Communication interventions hold a significant role in the promotion of gender equality (Birchall, 2018). Therefore, gender sensitive communication interventions will be considered to create awareness, transparency and strengthen commitment to gender equality. The gender sensitive communication will focus on inclusive use of visuals and language as well as positioning women and men so that they are represented equally, have equal access to opportunities and resources as well as enjoy balanced roles.

Funding Strategy that Promotes Cultural Diversity

The developmental program for gender equality among African Americans will rely heavily on private donations and grants from foundations that support gender equality. In addition, the program will seek to partner with organizations that serve African American women and girls, as well as other organizations that work to promote gender equality. By partnering with these organizations, the program will be able to tap into their existing networks and resources, which will help to ensure its success. The funding strategies promote cultural diversity expression through the arts by providing opportunities for African American women and girls to participate in the arts, as well as to learn about and celebrate their culture. The program also promotes cultural diversity through its outreach efforts, which will seek to engage African American women and girls in the community.

Measurable outcomes of the funding strategies

The program will track the number of African American women and girls who have benefited from the program’s services, such as its mentoring and tutoring programs. In addition, the program will track the number of African American women and girls who have been able to access higher education or employment opportunities as a result of the program’s assistance. Finally, the program will also assess its impact on the overall community by tracking the number of African American women and girls who report feeling more confident and empowered as a result of the program’s support.
