Scaling techniques and their benefits

This study employs three different techniques to come up with a rationale. With the Dichotomous technique is also referred to as referendum approach. It is referred to as such due to its yes or no bias. It allows for more rigorous comparison when reviewing customer satisfaction in its accuracy from telling the worst to excellent reviews.

The Ordinal scale allows for easy implementation of continuous rating of inventory sold as it is based on an individual’s choice or preference. It incorporates the use of illustration to allow buyers to express their opinion in a visual form, as given example, some clients prefer furniture sets that are of high quality and long lasting.

As given by the ratio scale, it gives a generalized view for magnitude comparisons. It more so gives priorities to abstract figures, in that online buyers may opt for gardening tools that are less than 30 kilograms.

Rationale for the survey questions

  • The reason for asking the age of the clients is to get an estimate of the age bracket that purchases most of our products.
  • I asked for the gender of the clients to give an overview of the different products demanded by either gender.
  • We asked for the clients’ opinions to find out their best home wares in order to know what items to supply more.
  • The reason for asking about what payments the clients prefer is to give insight on what mode of payments to facilitate more.
  • In order to know how to base our price ranging, we asked what our clients earn on an annual basis.
  • The satisfaction of the clients on their online shopping gives us insight on whether to invest more for inventory.
  • Because we are going green as a business, we need to know if our clients support that particular movement.
  • The reason for asking about the clients’ shopping habits is to know whether they buy more online or from physical stores.
  • In order for us to know about the goods to stock inventory for, we need to know the clients preferred products.
  • The clients online shopping satisfaction level will give us insight to know whether or not it is a valued investment.

                                    Drawbacks of the sampling techniques

  • Dichotomous analysis is often performed only in one subject area without generalization, making it unreliable to allow for wide comparison between wide topics.
  • Ordinal scale technique is only fruitful if one can make a distinction between the options at hand or variables in question.
  • The Ratio scale tends to be misleading when assessing profitability of a project due to its weighted view.

Estimating sample sizes using a sample size calculator

The sample size is given an estimate by incorporating the use of the confidence interval and the population of the clients.

The confidence interval was derived from calculating the sample size estimate and the population percentage.

In this given scenario, the population estimate is 500 and a confidence level of 95% gives a confidence level of 30.71. This is used further to obtain a sample size estimate of 10.

Rationale behind the sample size estimate

Through the use of a minimum number of clients in the population was so that the number yielded reliable results from statistical analysis.

Selecting a suitable number was in order to get a subsequently accurate estimation from the analysis.

The reason for using a low population number as a primary outcome measure was to get significant results.
