Summary of Evaluation Plan
The change proposal will focus on shift scheduling to improve patient outcomes. The long working hours and shifts have increased patient care risks. Long working hours among nurses have reduced job performance, risk of injuries, more chronic diseases, and fatigue-related errors. After implementing the change proposal, there is a need to evaluate the accomplishment of outcomes and objectives. The evaluation plan is an integral part of the change proposal since it offers information to improve the project during implementation and completion (Maher, 2020). The evaluation plan will assess the success and quality of the project in reaching the stated goals.
The evaluation plan will include the process of evaluation, which will be broken down into steps from preparation to implementation. The major steps of the evaluation plan will include illumination of the project objectives and outcomes, evaluation questions, evaluation methods and observational system to monitor change. The evaluation plan will begin with a conceptual model to elucidate the structure and project outcomes (Maher, 2020). This will help in focusing on the most important elements of the project. The plan will also assess how the stakeholders perceive the program and its effect on nurse shifts, the benefits realized and the overall impact of the change proposal, the risks of the change proposal, and the quality of the change proposal to ensure smooth implementation.
The plan will also include measurable outcomes and evaluation questions that will examine the overall changes expected to occur after the completion of the project. The measurable outcomes will include improved patient care, reduced sickness absence and turnover, low nurse fatigue, and an improved nurse working environment. The measurable outcomes will act as performance indicators since they are meant to offer meaningful information regarding changes in nurse shifts. The evaluation plan will also have an observation checklist that will highlight the changes that will be observed and evaluate the progress of change in improving patient care.
