Discussion Thread: Business Integrity, God’s Perspective, and Decision Models

The Power of Business Integrity

Integrity in business is a powerful tool and determines the success of the business. Business integrity involves incorporating ethical behaviors throughout the origination. Apart from the fact integrity is always the right thing to do, there are other valid reasons for making integrity a key part of any organization. One valid reason to ensure that the people in the organization practice integrity is that it enhances the reputation of the business (Freeman et al., 2020). If the business has a good reputation, it is easy to retain customers, it earns employee loyalty, and the business is more attractive to investors. Business integrity is usually correlated with financial performance. When one is in business and they practice integrity, they will not have regulatory issues, non-compliance issues, or any issues with the government or the external environment affecting the business, which will lead to fewer losses, and the business will also make a name for itself.

God’s Perspective on Business Integrity

In the bible in Leviticus 25:14, when a person makes a sale to a neighbor, they shall not wrong one another. They should involve in fair dealings, which builds consumer confidence and expands spending and growth. From the verse in Leviticus, one can tell that God also believes that businesses will experience more success if they exercise integrity. Most business people sometimes think that they will get ahead by stealing from the consumers or failing to adhere to the taxes. However, failing to play one’s role in running a business ultimately leads to loss. For example, if one is running a business and does not file their taxes, the business will likely run into trouble, and the business owner will be taxed more than they should. In the new testament, Jesus told the Pharisees to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God. This means that God believes in integrity and doing right by others, and not profiting off stealing from the customers or from the government. Businesses are supposed to lend stability to the larger community by not undermining the integrity and encouraging honesty within the community and within the business.

Current Decision Model

The current decision model is the rational decision-making model. The rational decision-making model. The rational model counteracts a lot of factors, such as faulty assumptions. This model has changed over the past weeks in many ways. The rational decision model involves defining the problem within the organization, identifying the possible solutions, deciding the importance of each criterion, designing a list of alternatives, evaluating the alternatives, and getting the best solution (Gamble et al., 2021). This model has changed over the weeks as I have worked on my own and with a team. Each time the results have been different.

This is because when working with a team, there is the need to communicate with the team and develop the bests decision. There is also the risk of anchoring and moving with the crowd; however, over the weeks, this model has changed, and through it, we have made business decisions that have been useful to eth business. It has also been useful in strategic planning and ensuring that the plans are executed effectively. This has been a food strategy. According to Rumelt (2011), there is a good and bad strategy in business. This strategy has worked so far with changes happening within the business and bringing in more profits than before. This decision will be in use for a few more weeks before moving on to the next model that will best suit the company.

The article by Freeman et al. (2020) focuses on eth importance of business and ethics. According to the article, business and ethics must be integrated into holistic business models. According to the article, business decisions involve ethical considerations. For example, when making decisions on the type of materials one will be use for manufacturing products, one is required to ensure that they get materials at a cheap price, but they should also consider the quality of the material to ensure that they are not giving their customers poor quality. They also should consider the effects the materials and processes have on the environment and ensure they are mitigating the environmental effects their business might be having on the environment. This source is a quality source for this discussion as it is published by Columbia university press. It is also relevant to the discussion as it discusses business integrity and its importance. According to the article, business integrity goes further than creating a reputation for oneself. It is also about integrating one’s economic interest into broader human interests. The article by Jenkins (2017) focuses on the confirmed fact that corruption does not help one get ahead in business rather, it drags them behind. According to the article, corruption does not contribute to the development of the business; rather, it is harmful. This is because corruption reduces the quality of the institution, undermines competitiveness, and reduces the institutional quality. This article is relevant to the discussion as it discusses the benefits of business integrity. Businesses are easily susceptible to bribery and corruption, especially when they feel like they are not getting ahead or not growing as fast as anticipated. However, bribing tier way through can only be helpful at the beginning and then negatively impact them later. The article also highlights the impact of corruption and the lack of integrity in a firm or business. According to the article, the lack of integrity affects morale; it increases costs and reduces the reputation of the firm. These are applicable in the discussion as they highlight corruption’s effects, the lack of integrity, and the need for businesses to embrace integrity.
