Rationale

The rationale for the study is to improve reading and comprehension skills among High School Juniors. The use of the ReadingPlus program offers the opportunity for the students to develop fluency and comprehension. The primary aim is to expose the students to a computer-based technology based on a standardized testing process. It measures the learner’s reading and comprehension level. Thus, the research helps to gauge learners’ proficiency level in reading and comprehension with a critical focus on enabling them to improve these abilities.

Participants

The research will involve 200 participants from Grades 3 to 12 selected from a population of 2000 learners. They will be chosen using the random sampling process. The researcher will randomly select students from the high school junior level to take part in the research. The selected learners will be informed about the aim of the study processes and expected benefits.

Apparatus and Materials

The research will integrate vital apparatus and materials to assist the investigator in examining high school juniors’ reading and comprehension levels. These materials will include online quizzes, the ReadingPlus program, and written texts, pen and paper.

Procedures

• The researcher will select each of the selected students and expose them to a written text on the online platform for a minute. They will be required to read the words in the written texts. The program will accelerate silent reading speed to boost their reading level. Also, it will increase the student’s stamina.
• After reading the texts, learners will receive a pen and paper to write down the words that they can remember in one minute as well.
• As they read, the program will measure their reading capabilities and range them accordingly.
• As for the written words, the results are fed into the ReadingPlus Program, which provides an overview of each learners’ comprehension status.
