What is your vision about your role as a global citizen?

First, a global citizen is an individual with a high level of awareness about their environment. As such, global citizens collaborate with others towards bringing peace and stability to the world. As all matters have become globalized, assuming the role of a global citizen has become simpler. Today, technological advance has changed the way people interact and communicate from different geographical locations. In this paper, I will share my vision about my role as a global citizen.

As a global citizen, my vision is to influence change at local, national, and global levels. Currently, human interference has disrupted the earth’s climate, leading to global warming. Reports by NASA suggest that the earth’s temperature has risen by about 2.12 from the late nineteenth century. As such, my vision is to reduce the temperature rates by the year 2030. Credible studies have identified greenhouse gases as the main causes of rising temperatures (NASA, 2021). Greenhouse gases such as Carbon dioxide and methane gas trap enormous amounts of heat, causing the earth’s temperatures to rise. My goal as a global citizen is to engage in activities that work to minimize the release of greenhouse gases.

Emissions from industries have increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Sanchez & McCarthy (2017) estimates a 30% to 50% extinction rate of earth species by the end of the century. In addition, climate change will cause floods, displacing millions of people from their residents. As most of the causes of climate change can be averted, I plan to participate in raising awareness about global warming. In this case, I will focus on educating young people about proper ways of minimizing greenhouse gases.

To effectively lower the levels of greenhouse gases, it will be essential for people to plant more trees. At first, my goal will be to educate people about the effects of global warming at a community level. This approach will entail creating social media posts containing images of the declining ice levels. Ultimately, water from the melting ice is deposited in the oceans, leading to a dramatic increase in the sea level. The posts will raise awareness among people living in coastal areas, as a rise in the sea level can potentially lead to floods.

Trees help in minimizing global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. In this case, I will encourage people to plant more trees around their homes and communities. My target is to increase the number of trees that cover a larger surface area, as they absorb more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Most importantly, I will encourage my community to build sustainable transport habits. The rapid increase in the number of vehicles has led to a rise in the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air. Thus, walking or riding a bicycle will have a significant effect in minimizing the release of greenhouse gases. By doing so, I will create a world of responsible citizens focused on making the earth a livable place.

In summary, this paper has presented my vision about reducing global warming by the year 2030. My goal is to educate people about the dangers of climate change for both humans and animals. An important aspect of the approach is that it will raise awareness concerning the direct effects of global warming on the community. For instance, rising sea levels will affect people living in coastal areas. Overall, the campaign will encourage people to take action towards improving their environment in future.
