ANSWER
Dante’s Circle of Hell
According to Dante Alighieri, the nine circles of hell are based on Dante’s ‘inferno’ and highlight some of society’s ills based on the various categories that it embodies. This essay will therefore analyze different individuals who fall under these categories.
Tiger Woods
A world-renowned golf champion, Tiger Woods has had his fair share of moral troubles that fall on Dante’s circle of hell categories. For instance, he falls on the second circle of lust after cheating on his wife on several occasions that also led to his career downfall (Burgess, 2019). It is also alleged that he was addicted to sex hence the numerous escorts and cheating partners that came forth to justify his character. The second circle of hell focuses on people practicing lust and adultery.
Osama bin laden
He spent the better part of his life terrorizing innocent civilians and orchestrating different ways of murdering them. His character and attitude fall on the fifth circle that entails the anger that he felt towards the West based on his propaganda and belief (Burgess, 2019). He also falls on the seventh circle prioritizing violence as he was found guilty of the 9/11 bombings and American embassies in Nairobi and Daressalum.
- Kelly
He is a convict found guilty of molesting underage girls. He falls under the second circle of lust based on his sexual fantasies. The fifth circle of anger also explains why he had the tendency to beat his victims and tying them up to rape them (Burgess, 2019).
Hitler
He orchestrated the murder of innocent Jews between 1941 and 1945, where he was responsible for the death of over a million individuals. He falls under Dante’s seventh circle about violence based on his killing actions (Burgess, 2019). According to the ninth circle, he was also treacherous after promising the women and children Jews that they were destined for a bright future before their execution.
Albert Einstein
He once remarked that Asian people were filthy and obtuse and claimed that the Asian decent would rule the world over time. His remarks portrayed the sixth circle, heresy, that rejects religious or political norms, especially China, a communist republic, a hugely shun world notion (Burgess, 2019).
