Many people admire to acquire the citizenship of the United States. There are many ways one can obtain the citizenship and nationality of the United States. Regardless of the method used to obtain citizenship, being an American citizen means a lot to me. This paper will discuss the significance of being an American citizen.

Being an American citizen means that you are eligible for jobs offered by the American government. ¹ Some of the jobs that are offered by the government can only be available for citizens. Being employed as a government worker in America means that you can switch between fields. American citizens also have the opportunity to vote for their leaders. ¹ Without an American identity, you cannot be allowed to participate in elections

Being an American citizen is advantageous for you and your children. If you have children who are under the age of eighteen years and you are an identified citizen, then your children are guaranteed to be natural citizens of America. ¹ An American citizen is also entitled to travel freely at any time. ¹ There are sometimes that the government restricts movements in the country for green card holders but the American citizens are not restricted to these movements.

Another significance of being an American citizen is that your children have total protection from deportation ¹. Certain crimes like committing treason can lead to deportation but your children will not be deported. This is an advantage to your children if you are an identified American citizen.
