Intercultural communication is the ability to communicate across cultures. This is important because the world has eventually become smaller due to technological advancements, but that does not mean that it has become identical hence the importance of the ability to deal across cultures (Hua, 2018).  Intercultural communication is important as it breaks down cultural barriers and creates awareness of cultural norms. This form of communication allows one to adapt their skills to meet intercultural collaboration. Intercultural communication enables people to effectively communicate with people from different cultures and forge meaningful relationships.

Intercultural communication is not only helpful in business. It is also an important skill in school situations. Understanding intercultural communication helps students of different cultural backgrounds understand each other (Jackson, 2019). Communication is important because small differences in language can impact a whole discussion and lead to disagreement or wrongly understanding a concept. It is important to ensure that the message intended is the one that is eventually given.

The ability of our unit has been positively impacted by cross-cultural communication. Understanding and identifying the cultural differences among specific groups enhances communication enables effective communication and getting through to other people. Cross-cultural communication has promoted integration and people working together rather than hating each other or feeling like one group does not appreciate the other.

In conclusion, communication involves the development of relationships between people through verbal or nonverbal cues. It is the way through which people get influenced by others or manage to influence others. Influence and relationships should therefore go beyond cultures and thus the importance of understanding intercultural communication and intercultural competence. Through intercultural communication, fewer people are offended, and people get to understand others from their perspectives.
