The Wooing of Beppo Tate is an interesting book about a boy who is informally adopted by an older man Tate. Beppo finds himself having a better life than before Mr. Tate adopted him; However, not long after he is adopted, he is faced with conflict. Beppo realizes that the adoption also comes with inheriting a feud between Mr Tate and his neighbour Mrs. Belmont. However, Beppo grows a liking for the Belmont girl and thus, he is faced with conflict. He risks making his new father mad by being friends with the enemy’s daughter, which could lead him to being sent back to his first home or trying to be friends with Daphne, Mrs. Belmont’s daughter (Palmer, 2000). The other conflict he faces in his quest to learn more about Daphne, Teppy Mr. Tate’s friend, finds out about his interest in the enemy’s daughter and tries to blackmail him. The third conflict e faced was that he was in danger of being bullied by George, the class bully.

Beppo solved the conflict he was facing by facing his bullies head-on. In school, he fought George, the bully, and when the other students were chanting about his adoption and being given away by his parents, he started a chant of his own that withdrew the attention from him, and the attention was shifted to Daphne (Palmer, 2000). He dealt with the blackmail by Teppy by giving him an owl as part of the victuals he was trying to get from him. This made Teppy stay away from him and stop blackmailing him. He also made friends with Daphne because Teppy could no longer blackmail him.
