Food Resources
A. This discussion forum concerns many of the topics covered in Chap. 18, that which you may use as reference along other with other useful sources on the internet or as suggested below. (6 points)
1) Describe your basic diet. You may use the below link to categorize various types of diets where variations of animal-based products are in or your diet, or do you primarily consume a meat diet?

2) List several of your favorite and common foods/dishes that you eat. I suggest, for the sake of organization, divide them into foods that are your favorites versus foods that you eat commonly. If your favorites are what you eat commonly that is OK to list those as either, but likely many of us aren’t always able to eat favorite foods all the time and many of our common foods we consume are out of convenience and/or cost. Just make a list in whatever fashion for the sake of this assignment.
3) Concerning at least two of the foods/dishes you listed above, preferably one of your favorites and one of your common foods, provide an analysis of them from the standpoint of how they are produced and/or harvested, and its perceived impact toward sustainability, or not. Particularly address aspects of food production from Chapter 18 such as country of origin, industrial agriculture versus locally grown/sourced, genetically modified food, land impacted, and pest management. If a type of seafood is your favorite or common food, you may additionally address issues of harvesting and/or the aquaculture of the food. Note, the Seafood Guide within the Module 3 learning materials will be useful.
B. After you have posted, you must respond to at least two of your classmates right there on the discussion thread. This is worth 4 points (2 pts each).
A response needs to be something substantial and contribute something significant to the conversation, not just saying “Good job.” or ” I like how you explained …”. Say something original and significant. Contribute some information, describe an example, share an experience, ask a thoughtful question, etc. If you are asked a thoughtful question, part of your significant response can be providing an intelligible response to that question. Each response should be at least a paragraph in length, that is, at minimum, 4-5 full sentences. Each response post is worth 2 points.
This discussion board is worth 10 points and goes toward your “participation” grade.
Do your own work, do not copy or even paraphrase somebody else’s work. I’ll be on the lookout for such things as I grade and have various tools available to check for plagiarism. All college rules of Academic Dishonesty are fully in effect.

My basic diet
| Day | Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner |
| Monday | Bacon, scrambled eggs, bread, and coffee | Rice and chicken | Fish and rice |
| Tuesday | Smoothie and one sausage | Fries and a milkshake | Vegetable rice |
| Wednesday | Tea and scones | Vegetable salad | Vegetable salad with beef |
| Thursday | Fresh juice, omelet, and bread | Burger with fries | Mashed potatoes with peas |
| Friday | Fresh juice, an apple, and cereal | Fruit salad | Noodles with beef |
| Saturday | Cereal and an orange | Tuna sandwich | Salmon and a vegetable salad |
| Sunday | Sandwich with scrambled eggs | Fruit smoothie | Macaroni and cheese |
My diet primarily consists of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and seafood. I, however, do not consume a lot of beef, but I consume dairy products in my food. Primarily my diet consists of meat.
| Favorite foods | Food I commonly eat |
| Broccoli with fish and mashed potatoes | Rice and chicken |
| Amish macaroni salad with shrimp | Fries and milkshake |
| Fresh broccoli salad | Bacon with bread |
| Fruit salad and fresh juices | Mashed potatoes with peas |
| Grilled fruit and vegetable kabobs | Macaroni and cheese |
Broccoli is a vegetable that is highly produced in china. The United States is the third-highest producer of broccoli, with California being the leading state that produces the crop. Fish farming is not highly sustainable as the aqua life is dying, and farmers are turning to harmful fish production methods. Wild-capture fish cannot keep up with the fish demand, hence the growing fish farming business (Golden et al., 2017). It is, however, unsustainable because of the harmful methods used by farmers, which are harmful to the consumers and the environment. On the other hand, rice production is hard, especially for the farmers, due to poor access to quality seeds, fertilizers, and agrochemicals. The rice production involves costly processes that the framers cannot afford, which leads to the farmers not producing quality rice. The chemicals used in the production of rice are also harmful to the environment.
Poultry production faces problems such as getting the right birds to keep, and small-scale farmers cannot access the technology required to take care of many birds and prevent them from diseases. There is, however, industrial production of GMO poultry products. GMO meats means that the animal has been fed with GMO crops which accelerate the growth and production of their products. Small scale farmers cannot afford GMO food, and therefore they cannot keep up with the production of poultry products.
