ANSWER

Global Pipeline

Managing the flow of information, goods and resources across borders is highly complex, regulated and dynamic. The global pipeline is a holistic, systematic global supply chain and logistics network. Advances in technology are driving the world to a commonality. Global corporations are operating with resolute consistency at a low cost by considering the world as a single market. Today, most companies are engaged in the global business network, which requires formulating a strategic approach to conduct their business based on a logistics focus (Tannous and Yoon, 2018). This has led to embracing a global pipeline that creates a global supply chain network. The global logistics supply pipeline embraces procurement, production and manufacturing of goods, handling load cargo, quality control, delivery to distribution centre and delivery to the customer.

Role of Distribution within Global Pipeline

The global pipeline incorporates the management processes that connect the network of manufacturers, suppliers, retail outlets and warehouses to ensure that the correct type of goods have been sourced, supplied, manufactured and delivered in the accurate quantities to the right customers and locations at the precise time and received in decent condition. In the global pipeline, distribution entails a network of an interrelated group of transportation schemes and storage amenities that take inventories of products and deliver them to the consumers. Distribution is required in the global pipeline to ensure a balance between demand and supply. Additionally, distribution reduces the number of transactions required to get the product from the supplier to the consumer.

Elements of Leadership Visibility within Global Pipeline

Leadership visibility is significant to supply chain managers in the global pipeline. Leadership visibility focuses on improving and strengthening the supply chain by making data readily available to all parties, including the consumer (Caridi et al., 2014). Leadership visibility is linked not only to insights from internal data but also to connecting all the data from the manufacturers to the final delivery to the consumers. The elements of leadership visibility within the global pipeline include dynamic and static visibility.

Static Visibility

Some supply chain managers are static in their operations, meaning they cannot change how they manage or operate in a given situation outside or within the organization. Over the last few years, there have been emerging trends within the global supply chains where various operations override the previously carried out operations. Static visibility prevents organizational leaders from changing their leadership styles even when the situations are worse. Static visibility leads to leadership control within the global pipeline complicated by variable and long delays in product and information flows. Static visibility prevents the leadership from responding in real-time and lacks understanding of in-transit visibility solutions.

Dynamic Visibility

Dynamic visibility enables supply chain managers to see products, how the supply chain, warehouses and plants are running, and determine where disruptions are occurring and the effects. Dynamic visibility enables leaders to respond to and monitor the global supply chain network in real-time. Through greater dynamic visibility, the supply chain managers can act independently on real-time supply chain signals to capitalize on the prospects and lower the impact of disruptions. A leader can integrate the volatile operations and situations happening in the global pipeline through dynamic visibility to attain the set targets. According to Clavelle (2012), dynamic visibility helps a company perform better by incorporating different operational and market trends offered in a given operation or business niche. Dynamism leads alignment of real-time insights with the company goals while ensuring all the stakeholders are receiving clarity in the global pipeline.

Supply Chain Event Management

Supply chain event management is a concept that focuses on achieving companywide transparency of supply chain and logistic processes and timely response to vital exception events in the supply chains (Vlahakis, Apostolou and Kopanaki, 2018). It represents a way of optimizing logistics performance and, at the same time lowering logistics costs. Supply chain event management primarily manages vital events across the supply chain. It offers required visibility into the process of acting in remarkable circumstances that can increasingly result in disruptions. Obtaining real-time information is vital since it helps analyze how certain events can influence the production schedule and consumer-awaited deliveries.

The main objective of the supply chain event management is to keep all the supply chain members, from the supplier and manufacturer to the consumers, informed about the activities across the global pipeline. Supply chain event management helps manage an organization’s supply chain. This is done by using software that enables them to track all the events focused on achieving the organization’s goals. For instance, it allows the supply chain managers to execute fulfilment activities concerning inventory expectations and timely arrival.

Organizational Maturity

Organizational maturity is considered the degree of an organization’s capability and readiness expressed through its people, processes, technologies and data and the reliable measurement approaches in the place. This is a combination of different organizational factors that link to how an organization considers the systems of human beings and interacts with the natural world to ensure that it’s responsible and responsive to the natural world. The higher the organizational maturity, the more streamlined the supply chain operation and the more the supply chain functional areas are visible. The supply chain maturity model can be used to evaluate the competitive factors and to set objectives in the global pipeline. One of the best practices is integrating a supply chain maturity model that enables organizations to quantitatively examine their position within the framework of supply chain maturity and benchmark the industry best practices.
