The American economy and other government systems have been unjust to many students who have found it hard to cater to their school fees. The immense burden of debt that comes with sponsorship from the government lingers for a long time before students can fully cover the loan. This not only sets them back financially but disrupts the socio-economic field for such people compared to their counterparts who paid their own college fees (Alexander, 2020). Nonetheless, I believe in the advocacy for free college for everyone, as this will create many economic benefits for the country, families, and the students in question. Therefore, this essay will analyze the economic theories that will indicate the benefit of advocating for free college education for every student in America.

Increase in disposable income

The Biden administration climbed into power, intending to make community colleges and four-year public colleges free for students from households earning $125,000 or less (Bell, 2020). According to a statistical analysis conducted by the senior analysts of Sonecon, if the bill for free college will be passed, such a household would increase America’s disposable income by $61 billion. With such an increase, the country would ultimately see its GDP increase by $136 billion in the next year (Berman, 2021). This will also stimulate the economy, as an immediate economic boost will be notice and the country accumulate long-term benefits in the long haul.

Increased number of graduates

The focal point of this debate is the students who qualify for college enrollment but do not have the means to cater to their school fees. A progressive America struggles to promote equality for all, and free access to college education could see such dreams realized. Consequently, with the introduction of free college education, a survey conducted by the Campaign for Free College and Rise indicated that the number of student enrollment in colleges would increase by 776 200 (Berman, 2021). This accounts for an increase of 42.7%. In addition, the number of students graduating with a bachelor’s degree would increase by 558,000, a 15.3% increase. With such numbers enrolling in school, there will also be a personal financial increase in their endeavors. According to the survey, the graduates would earn 16% more for an associate and 67% more for a bachelor’s degree than if they would only graduate high school (Winograd & Lubin, 2020).

Equal opportunities

Free college for everyone will also ensure that the social, political, and economic fields will be leveled for everyone. The huge fees associated with private and college fees have long affected students from low-income households. The survey suggests that the situation is not as everyone anticipates for the students who receive scholarships. The survey suggests that students who receive scholarships often struggle with the complexity of seeing the scholarship through, as most of them are riddled with bureaucracy (Berman, 2021). This ultimately leads to bright and gifted students giving up on the applications, hence adding to the huge number of students who fail to go to college. Luckily, with a free college education, many students will enroll in schools and explore the many opportunities America has in store.

Equal opportunity will also include inclusion, especially for people of color. According to Robert Shapiro, an under-secretary during the Clinton administration, 16% more white people are likely to attend college compared to black students. They are also 18% percent more likely to go to college than Hispanic people (Berman, 2021). With these numbers, it is a no-brainer that the whole country should advocate for free college for all, as this will mark the beginning of greater things that nobody can fathom at the moment.
