In the teacher wellbeing module of this course, you will learn about different strategies that can be used and implemented to promote and enhance teacher wellbeing. Your task for this assignment is to identify a number of potential stressors in your own life now, as a pre-service teacher and when you enter the teaching profession. You will identify relevant strategies to help you develop and maintain work/life balance. You will demonstrate your understanding of the purpose of these strategies and how they can be used in real life situations. You will also be asked to do some further reading in this area to deepen your understanding of teacher wellbeing. You will need to research to find potential areas for professional learning (related to wellbeing) that you would like to undertake in the future.
Create and interactive resource (e.g. website, blog etc.) and detail 5 strategies ensuring that you cover the dot points below for each one:
Potential stressor (could be from now, as a preservice teacher or when you enter the teaching profession)

Title and Outline of the strategy with a description of how you will benefit from the use of the strategy in your real life. Use references to support your ideas.
For one strategy only – Identify a source of professional learning that you would like to undertake in the future to assist in the area you have identified. (you only need to include a professional learning source for one stressor/strategy)

ANSWER
Potential Stressors among Teachers
Overview
Teachers often counter stress from the lack of enough self-confidence, inappropriate time control, communication challenges with the students, poor relationships with fellow teachers, and working conditions. These elements affect their well-being and capacity to support learners in achieving remarkable milestones.
Personal Stressor #1: Lack of enough confidence
The lack of enough confidence happens to be one of the vital stressors in my learning journey. I have encountered instances where I lack confidence in my learning processes. This has continued to challenge me amidst a dire need to deliver quality outcomes for the learners. For example, as a new teacher, I found myself prone to a lack of confidence when a learner asked me a challenging question.
Strategy and Benefit: Being Prepared
As a teacher, one should always be prepared for the lesson ahead. This enables one to meet learner expectations. I have learned that when I fail to prepare myself, I become less exposed to the topic at hand. This will affect my ability and capacity to answer the questions brought forth by the students. It is proven that preparedness enhances self-confidence. As Gonzales (2018) reveals, when teachers are well-prepared, they boost their confidence in delivering the intended materials to the students.
Personal Stressor #2: Time control
Time control has always been a major stressor for me. Irrespective of planning my teaching contents for the respective lesson, I always find myself struggling with time. For example, at times, I fail to ultimately deliver the contents that I had planned for a particular lesson because I run of time. This has significantly affected my self-esteem because I always feel like a failure. How is it possible for one to plan and run short of expectations at the same time? This is a question that I always ask myself when I lose control of my teaching time.
Strategy and Benefit: Planning for Potential Crises
One of the best ways of avoiding time management challenges is allocating time for potential crises. For example, when teaching, a student can ask a question that takes a long time than is expected. The teacher is expected to encounter challenges with time control. I believe that planning for a potential crisis is a strategic course of action that can always boost my time control ability.
Personal Stressor #3: Communication breakdown with the students
Well, teachers often encounter communication breakdowns with the students. This is a situation that I have found myself in my teaching practice. I believe that it has had a detrimental effect on my students. Communication primarily affects motivation in the classroom setting (Duta, Panisoara & Panisoara, 2015). Learners might fail to achieve the targeted outcomes due to the absence of a healthy communication process with their teachers.
Strategy and Benefit: Creating a supportive learning environment
Teachers should create a supportive learning environment for the learners. This makes them comfortable and learns to open up. When students feel free to express their thoughts and ideas, this accelerates effective communication with their teachers. I am positive that I will be better positioned to communicate with my students if I implement this tactic.
Personal Stressor #4: Poor relationships with fellow teachers
Yes, poor relationship with fellow teachers is a major stressor. It can have adverse effects on a teacher’s engagement in the school environment. I have experienced this challenge first hand when I disagreed with one of the teachers. I had a rough time because we had developed a close bond. I found myself losing concentration in and out of the classroom.
Strategy and Benefit: Respecting boundaries
I am certain that respecting boundaries exist as a viable way for teachers to build strong and healthy relationships in the workplace. For example, if I happen to find a fellow teacher talking on phone or having a conversation with a fellow colleague, I should not interfere. It is appropriate to keep moving to avoid interfering with their conversation. This helps avoid conflicts that are likely to alter relationships in the workplace.
Personal Stressor #5: Poor working conditions
When teachers have a poor working environment and conditions, they are likely to develop stress. This is due to a lack of viable support systems and structures. For instance, if teachers have no sufficient teaching materials, they are bound to develop stress due to the inability to deliver to the students. The poor working conditions undermine their desire to ensure that learners achieve their targeted goals and objectives.
Strategy and Benefit: Effective Leadership
Leaders should cultivate viable guidance tactics in the workplace. Effective leadership approaches ensure that teachers have a quality working environment that supports them in delivering the expected outcomes for the learners. I believe that my institution can adjust its leadership to create a viable working environment for us. This will accelerate content delivery in the school. In real life, effective leadership motivates teachers to deliver the expected milestones. This will enable students to improve their grades and develop a positive brand image for the institution. Thus, everyone benefits from the establishment of a quality working environment.
Professional Learning: Leadership Developmental Opportunities
One of the approaches that I would invest in to gain vital skills relating to developing a potential working environment is developmental leadership opportunities. Here, I would benefit from valuable insights into how leaders in the teaching domain can better the working environment for the workers.
Source of Professional Learning: Mentorship and leadership courses
Mentorship and leadership courses are excellent sources of leadership professional learning. They can pave the way for advanced skills and knowledge to establish viable working conditions in the learning environment.
