How Can Creating More Online Jobs Help To Reduce The Stress Of Unemployment During COVID-19?
Introduction
The COVID-19 health crises has become a global economic problem putting at risk the health, income and jobs of millions of individuals all over the world. The stringent containment measures adopted by most nations have put substantial break on most social and economic activities. Most people were unable to go to work due to the containment measures while other businesses could no longer operate. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted unemployment rates from every economic sector and demographic group (Kawohl and Nordt, 2020). During this period, people have turned into online jobs to help reduce the stress of unemployment during COVID-19. Creating more online jobs increases work opportunities and passive incomes thus reducing the stress of unemployment during C0VID-19.
The sudden closure of many business and workplaces has ushered in a novel era of online working where millions of workers have shifted to working online. The private, public and social sectors leaders have focused on major steps to manage the evolving crisis of work and job. Most countries are supporting freelancers and work from home policies that have allowed creation of more online jobs to reduce unemployment. Online jobs have offered opportunities for the unemployed to offer online services to individuals without the constraint of geography and time (McDowell et al., 2020). There has been a rise in the freelancing online platforms which have changed the way a client can interact and hire freelancers. The work from home policy has become a priority in most governments with the need for more online jobs.
Most companies have created online jobs where they outsource services or look for online help. For instance, most online employers are in need of consultants, data entry persons, web designers, transcriptionist, programmers, customer support, and affiliate marketers among others. Teleworking has been on the rise during COVID-19 due to changes in the working patterns (Belzunegui-Eraso and Erro-Garcés, 2020). This has created job opportunities as most people offer online services. Online retail and contactless food delivery options through the use of innovative technologies have contribution to more online job services due to the accelerated digital transformation. Online jobs will allow individuals to work in more than one company due to flexibility thus reducing the stress of unemployment such as financial burdens.
The high level of unemployment is a serious problem that can have a negative psychological and social effect on the unemployed (Shah et al., 2021). This problem can be exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic to create a terrible situation. In order to address this issue, there is need to focus on creating more online jobs during COVID-19 so that people will have more opportunities to work and less stress from unemployment. People will be able to work part-time in different companies and clients thus reducing anxiety brought about by unemployment. There are many benefits of creating more online jobs, including: people will have an easier time finding a job without location barriers. There will be less depression and anxiety because people feel like they’re doing something productive every day (Howe et al., 2020). In order to reduce the stress caused by unemployment, there is need to create more online jobs. There is an opportunity for people to take up these online jobs and make them their main source of income, which will allow them to be flexible with their schedule and spend more time with their families.
Conclusion
In summation, the question of unemployment is a major topic in COVID-19. This is because there is a sharp increase in the unemployment rate. Creating more online jobs means creating opportunities for the unemployed and thus reducing the rate of unemployment during the pandemic. Online jobs have allowed remote and teleworking which increase flexibility and ability of individuals with different skills to work in different companies.
