Choose and describe one example (this may be hypothetical or personal) of a child struggling with or demonstrating mastery and competence.

Show how Bandura’s concepts apply to this example.
Please post a response, and respond thoughtfully to at least one other person’s posting.
General Discussion Instructions
Your total response should be at least 250 words. Your explanations should be complete, clear, concise and thorough, and supported by cited information from a class learning resource, and follow APA style with your in-text citation and reference.
Show evidence of thoroughly reading and listening to the course resources. This is preferable to outside research. But if you provide additional resources, they will be graded on their scholarly credibility; that means sources of questionable truth may result in a lower grade on the post and sources of good credibility may result in a higher grade.
ANSWER
Human Development 4.2D
According to Erickson’s fourth stage of identity occurs between 7 and 13 years. This stage involves industry vs. inferiority. A child that successfully navigates this stage develops confidence which plays a major role in their life. According to Bandura’s social learning theory, children pick up from their environment (Lally & Valentine-French, 2019). They imitate what they learn from the adults, the media, and peers. Positive and negative reinforcement leads to a child’s change in behavior. A child learns by paying attention to another person’s actions and the consequences of their actions.
J, a seven-year-old boy, has seen his brothers playing a video game. They do not let him play with them most of the time, but when he does nice stuff for them, they let him play. Most of the time, they beat him in the game, making him feel bad. He has been practicing when they are not around. Today he brought them juice so that they could let him play. Today he beat one of his brothers in all the games, and he is so proud of himself. His brothers are also proud of him and stopped calling him a baby. From Erickson’s industry vs. inferiority, J has gained confidence by playing with his brothers. He is likely going to continue playing video games to keep winning. According to Bandura’s social learning theory, J has learned how to play a video game by observing his brother’s play. He also learned that doing something nice for them makes them let him play with them.
