Positive Psychology Response

Positive psychology is a new field of psychology that emphasizes the positive influences in one’s life. The positive psychology theory is based on the belief that happiness comes from both emotional and mental factors. This means that it includes character strengths, optimistic emotion and constructive institutions. Some of the techniques of positive psychology involve positive emotion, engagement and meaning (Seligman, 2019). Positive psychotherapy involves examining one’s activities in therapy. The positive implications of each activity are explored. Positive psychology involves getting people more involved in their communities and leading happy and fulfilled lives. Psychology focuses on the causes and the negative consequences of disorders, but positive psychology focuses on one’s strengths rather than their weaknesses. This new form of psychology might become more popular than the other type of psychology as it focuses on helping people deal with their lives not through surviving their trauma but through embracing the positives in their lives and finding life more fulfilling.
