Identity thieves use the stolen identity to commit fraud like making unauthorized purchases and transactions. The thief can use the information acquired to apply for credit cards, they can file taxes or get medical services. Most identity thieves are malicious and damage one’s credit status by applying for more credit cards and maxing out on them. I agree with you that it is essential to take great care of one’s personal information as it can lead to identity theft. Identity theft can take a toll on a person’s emotional health as it takes tie to recover from the damage caused by the thief. It is also essential to report any case of identity theft to the authorities immediately one realizes it has happened.
