Internet and Society
The technological advancements show that the world is advancing, and there is a need for people to adjust to the changes. According to Keren Elazari, hackers are an important feature in the technological world. With the rapid investments that are cropping up, the higher the number of hackers. There is a need for people to embrace hackers who have self-control. According to Elazari (2017), hackers are the internet’s immune system as they use their discoveries to ensure that companies are fixing their weaknesses, especially online. There are hackers who are online who do not use their hacking skills to steal. Some use their knowledge to ensure that companies are taking precautions to protect public information. Instead of fighting hackers, it is important to ensure that the hacker’s movements are embraced, and new methods of empowering them to do the right thing are developed to ensure they do not turn to online criminal activities.
From the readings, one can conclude that change is no longer happening in the streets. The tools for change are online. Hackers have the power to influence policy changes and ensure that the policies that favor the general public are embraced. There is an increase in malware and viruses that can be used to attack and steal information online. However, these can be solved by online hackers as they are innovative. According to Higgins et al. (2008), those who commit piracy do it because they lack self-control, and not all hackers lack self-control. As Elazari puts it, it is time to embrace the hackers and ensure that they are on the right side of the law as they have potential that could be harvested. Their skills can be used to make better policies and ensure that the internet world and the world are a better place.
