Various labor acts of the USA have been increasingly changing over the years. This paper highlights the relationship between the Wagner act and Taft-Hartley as essential labor enactments over the years.

The Wagner act depicts the National Labor Relations Act of 1935 as the USA’s primary labor legislation. The legislation gave rights towards collective bargaining power, the reason for fair representation, and to strike (Find Laws. 2020). The Taft-Hartley enactment, however, is a reformation of the previously Wagner Act formed in the fight against the communist infiltration of the labor union’s activities. The Act repealed specific provisions of the Wagner act. The Act gave the labor unions the right towards a collective barging but outlawed the closed shops contrary to the Wagner act (Find Laws, 2020). The Act further bestowed on the president the right to appoint a board of inquiry towards the labor disputes. The Act also gave the president the power to ask the attorney to commission a federal injunction if a union’s strike impeded national safety. Finally, the Act outlawed any political contributions by the members of the labor unions. Taft-Hartley Act was therefore enacted towards improving the various statutes of the previously Wagner Act.

An explanation of the NLRA as protecting all the American workers

The National Labor Relations Act is tasked with the mandate to protect the rights of the employees as well as those of the employers. It protects the rights of the workers towards collective bargaining across the divide, both private and public workers (National Labor and Relations Act, 2020). Therefore, it advocates against any labor and management practices that may be targeted to harm the general welfare of businesses and workers in the entire USA economy. The significant provisions enacted on the Wagner act in transforming its name into the Taft-Hartley Act were, therefore, based on improving its effectiveness in representing all the American workers.
