ANSWER

LEADERSHIP

Formal rules of a nurse in leadership include activities like practicing advanced care, influencing operations and policy and innovating solutions. In this discussion we will look at nursing leadership in administrative and management, for example the Chief Nursing Officer. The Chief Nursing Officer manages the nursing budgets in the health system and also compensates wages, conducts performance assessment on the inferior nurses and sees their progress (Murray, 2017). Moreover, the Chief Nursing Officer represents the other nurses in board meetings and airs their ideas, complains and suggestions. The educational requirement needed for one to become a Chief Nursing Officer include, one being a registered nurse by completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited four year nursing school, and also doing a Master of Science in Nurse which majors more on administration (Jones-Schenk, 2014) The Chief Nursing officer is required to possess skills such as being flexible and easy to adopt to changes and even solve problems that may arise. They have strong strategic planning skills to keep the health system organized, and to manage the budget and stick with it.

The Chief Nursing Officer can use some strategic advocacies to create a positive change in the working place by having an open door policy environment where the inferior nurses can air their concerns and ideas freely to him/her and they are presented well in the board meeting and given back a feedback( Lynn,2010The American Association of Colleges of Nursing even set up standards that prevent negative changes in the work place like nurses being good in communication, effective staffing whereby a patient needs is matched with a nurse’s competencies and other nurse leaders should be effective when making decisions in making policies and ensuring other nurses are valued creating a healthy working place (Dowding, 2019).
