ANSWER
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has announced that the travel advisory of covid-19 risk, maintained country by country, will no longer be addressed. CDC will only post notices where new variants of Covid 19 are encountered hence changing traveling abroad recommendations. Since CDC has maintained travel advisories on its websites on areas experiencing infectious disease outbreaks for that period, the agency has evaluated countries based on the spread of the disease. Therefore, people planning trips understood better how Covid 19 spread from one country to the other. This decision, therefore, does not affect CDC from communicating about the pandemic as it occurs. If there’s a new variant, the public will still be alerted.
The populations affected by the decision are all travelers and primarily children under twelve, as the updated booster for covid 19 is not yet available. People with underlying medical conditions and those who are immunocompromised are at higher risk of being infected by the disease. Also, old-age people with chronic medical conditions are also affected by the CDC decision as they plan to travel because they have to evaluate whether the countries they visit are well equipped with highly with medical care. This is after CDC analyzed only the new variants or situations concerning health in each country instead of assessing the level of covid-19 infection in each country. CDC has applied problem-saving competency skills by ensuring that people get booster vaccines at least ten days before traveling (Hetter, 2022). They should also get the whole vaccine which can be administered with covid 19 vaccine. While traveling, people should also carry plenty of tests to know whether they develop symptoms or have significant exposure. CDC has urged communication as a necessary precaution so one may find out each country’s rules since some countries have lifted vaccine and testing requirements. One should also know whether health coverage is applicable when traveling and whether there are well-equipped hospitals in case of hospitalization.
