How A Supervisor Can Use Feedback to Improve Communications

Feedback entails listening actively, taking time to analyse and think of the suitable solution to improve performance. Feedback allows criticism and evaluation of what everyone can do to improve their focus and result. Honest feedback is a significant part of the communication process being a way to help the employees grow and learn. Feedback also brings people together and creates a healthy communication flow within an organization (Harris and Nelson, 2018). Supervisors are responsible for offering employee constructive feedbacks about their workplace behaviour and performance.

Supervisors can improve communication through listening to other people’s views and thoughts of employees. Feedback enhances cooperation between the employees and the supervisors through knowledge and information sharing. This is because communication is nothing but information without feedback. Feedback is a major component of the communication processes since it allows the supervisor to analyse the effect of the message to the employees. The supervisor will create an honest and clear communication flow in the team work. This will also create a democratic approach to communication through two way communication. For instance, engaging employees with feedback improve the communication of a problem. Employees can be able to communicate their reaction towards certain procedures and achievement of certain goals.

Ineffective communication results to misunderstandings (Harris and Nelson, 2018). Feedbacks play an essential role in eliminating disconnect and misunderstanding. Supervisors can rely on feedback to communicate to the employees where they do not clearly understand. Supervisors rely on feedback to examine when information is not clear to the workforce. Therefore, they use feedbacks to clearly communicate directions to prevent misunderstandings. Improving understanding means that the employees can engage more and communicate effectively. Supervisors conduct one on one meetings with the employees to receive and offer feedback which improve the overall relationships and communication within the organization. Feedback has been effective in developing cross-organizational communication which strengthens the bonds thus making communication easy between the employees and the management within the organization.
