Organizational culture is the unique way of conducting business in any given company. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. The organizational culture in Microsoft ensures workforce resilience and capability to address business needs in computer hardware and software products. It cultivates a culture of values, tradition, and behavioral expectations among the employees. Microsoft uses organizational culture to facilitate innovation (Sürücü & Yeşilada, 2021). The features of Microsoft’s organizational culture include; accountability, quality, innovation, responsiveness to customers, a growth mindset, and diversity and inclusion. These factors are displayed in the company’s daily activities. Microsoft takes accountability seriously and innovation seriously, and they, therefore, ensure that the products they provide to their customers are of high quality and innovative. The company encourages innovation, and thus, it keeps evolving and bringing new products to the market. The company values respect, integrity, and accountability.
Impacts of Culture and Leadership
A company’s culture is powerful. It impacts sales, profits, recruiting efforts, and employee morale negatively or positively. A company’s culture is carried on through and through, and it impacts the success or failure of the company. For example, at Microsoft, employees are encouraged to be innovative (Warrick, 2017). They are also encouraged to be accountable for their work in the company and ensure that they respect each other and are honest. This culture ensures that the employees in the company feel respected. Leadership also impacts performance in any organization. Good leadership is key to maintaining employee morale and also employee retention. Good leadership inspires the employees to do as their leaders. For example, if a leader is accountable, the employees will also be accountable for whatever they do in the organization. If the leaders treat the employees in the organization with respect, they will respect the leader, and they will follow the leader’s example and treat each other with respect. Good leadership is one of the key factors to running a successful business.
A company such as Microsoft continues to be successful because of the culture of the company and the good leadership. The company’s culture encourages employees to be accountable and innovative (Warrick, 2017). The company has remained successful due to the innovation and accountability that goes on. The leaders also treat the employees with respect and honesty in the business. Accountability and integrity go hand in hand in ensuring that the company uses quality materials to produce quality computers. The leadership style in Microsoft is focused on creating a culture that emphasizes the importance of organizational culture. The company has a clear vision. There is clear communication, humility, and empathy, which generates energy in the different teams. The leadership traits in the company have ensured that the company is successful.
Leadership Style and Personality Traits
I am an understanding and patient person. I believe that everybody needs to be heard. I am also empathetic and believe that one should first listen to others before passing any form of judgment. These traits are some of the good leadership traits. I believe that I have transformational leadership skills as I believe in inspiring others. In Microsoft, these traits and my leadership style would come in handy as I would inspire the employees to be innovative. I would also show respect and integrity, which would help the organization’s success. Employees will stay in an environment where they feel respected over a work environment where they are given high salaries but disrespected.
