Introduction
The self-assessment tool is essential in gauging the level of clinical skill. The tool allows one to develop their skills as well as examine their weaknesses and strengths as well as enable one to improve on their weaknesses. The objective of this report is to highlight on my strengths and weaknesses as through the clinical skills and procedures self-assessment form.
Summary of strengths:
| One of my strengths is proper physical examination. Ideally, physical examination is an essential clinical skills (Tollefson, Tambree, Jelly and Watson, 2018). For instance, I am able to conduct clinical breast examination, prostate examination, nail examination, and mini mental status examination. For instance, can properly conduct biopsy, diagnostic testing order, PTF interpretation and CXR interpretation. Another major strength entails communication skills. Efficiency in communication enables one to successfully complete the clinical procedures and physical examination due to an excellent association with the patients and my co-workers (Kopelman and Dacre, 2019). |
Opportunities for growth:
| My clinical strengths have enabled me to conduct clinical procedures effectively. However I have some weaknesses which I need to improve on. Some of the opportunities for growth include procedural skills which are a vital component of nursing practice. The assessment of clinical examination and procedural skills indicate that I need to improve my ability to conduct biopsy, removal of foreign body and injection of local anaesthetics. Competencies in these skills will improve my comprehensive patient care (El Sol et al., 2019). I have also presented strength in clinical and procedural skills such as synthesizing and presenting data, taking patient history and using diagnostic reasoning. |
